Well I got the seven running (after charging the battery) and it’s broken again now (needs new battery)
But did manage to burn off the wax!
Couldn’t resist taking it for a quick run - no hood and smoke pouring from the engine bay.

Emailed Ford the other day about a build date on my transit, had an email this morning asking where I wanted the letter sending through to!

Got an early finish from work so went to the discovery museum with gf and the kids. Follwed by collecting the dog from home and an hour or two at Longsands beach in Tynemouth.

Re: What did you do today?
Soon you will have finished before you have started!!!
Still I can’t talk, as I had a day off.
Damn… the rot really has set in(!)
I keep telling the wife, I need to go home and top my accent back up. Who knew I would start slipping foreign words in there as well.
I’ve been waiting now for a good year for the 912 to reach a point in the line, where it goes in for paint. Spoke to the owner who apologised and said it would probably be another 6-8 months as he had an issue with one of the cars he is doing.
So I decided to have a poke around to see who else might be able to do it. It seems the further from the city, the more reasonable the price.
So after an hours drive today, I dropped in to Wild Creek Auto Restoration in Le Center.
He has around 70 of his own cars on the lot (retirement apparently) and a workshop full of vintage tin.
I didn’t take any pics of the field out back that he showed me with the cars in, but out front, I took a few pics before I met him. From the sky: I wish I could get excited by American cars and must admit there was an early mustang fastback waiting for work that gave me a light tingle, but that was about it.
I saw an older restoration he had done 7 years ago (the Mercury) and a one year old Caddie. Inside the workshop he had a G wagon and on his website he had a Datsun convertible, so knew he wasn’t fussy about what he did bodywork on.
His paint skills were along the lines of thickness but no depth. On a white driver, that will work for me. Panels seemed straight enough and had no real issues.
He’s going to drop over one evening to have a look and give me a quote. The paint will be $10k and bodywork on top. By the time has has a free slot and gets to work, he figures the back end of summer 2024, which is fine as I’m not in a hurry.
I’m going to look a little more before I sign up for anything, but having something in the bag is nice!

What a great place to mooch about in! Second pic, that one in the weeds, looks to be a '57 Mercury Turnpike Cruiser - quite a rare thing now. That needs saving....Shame about the window in the Ford Sedan Delivery but I guess it could be repanelled. They would make a nice pair.
There's a great long bar in Rock & Roll heaven.......
