I'm going to be like the Rev often says to me ( ) and said it's bloody awful. It's chocked full of filler and a pile of shit.
If you zoom in on the back, there is no rear quarter gap. There should be two panels visible
It's all cracking off here
Poor repairs on sill steps. Paint appears even to be chipping off.
Interior is going to be awful under those ugly covers - that'll cost more than the car itself to resolve.
Coffee jar zip tied on as a washer fluid reservoir.
Failed it's MOT in 2014 and never retested.
That shiny paint is going to be hiding some right horrors.
It's been tarted up for a quick sale to an unsuspecting buyer.

Re: EBay Finds
That’s funny cos I think the A is much prettier and better proportionally than the B, including the front end which looks elegant to my crappy eyes.

Re: EBay Finds
I prefer the A as well.
It's got a degree of delicacy which the B doesn't have and a proper grille.

I've had one ride in an MGA, compared to the B they felt incredibly crude, you did however feel like you were flying along at about 40mph.
Wasn't the twin cam the desirable one?

Re: EBay Finds
The cutaway doors add to the feeling of low-flying but I would say that the MGB needs to be a fairly late model to appreciate any significant improvement. Mind you, I've only had experience of freshly-rebuilt MGAs.....
I'd take a sorted "A" over a "B" if actual money was set to one side - especially if I had to look at it for any length of time.
As usual, my choice would be two-fold - a nice late BGT (I am not averse to bumper-cars for those offer the optimal ride quality) as a daily and a 1600 MGA roadster for whichever day of the year it chooses to be summer.....

Yep, by what I remember they had a bad reputation at the time for various reasons, mainly the engines were more 'delicate' than the usual BMC fare.DodgeRover wrote: ↑Sat May 06, 2023 12:01 pm I've had one ride in an MGA, compared to the B they felt incredibly crude, you did however feel like you were flying along at about 40mph.

Re: EBay Finds
They often blame the dealer mechanics for servicing short-comings but I could never help wondering it wasn't more than that. I don't think they had a particularly illustrious competition history either.

Re: EBay Finds
Iirc carb vibration caused them to run lean and killed the engines at alarm regularity. Only realised well after the fact and the engine was discontinued.
Shame as the B might have got a twin cam B-series.
