Economy is good actually - trip computer averages at 22 usually. On a run, it doesn mid-high 20s. Pretty much same as the Volvo really.

The Jag could be made available for GGG day trips with split driving quite easily...

I'm actually surprised by those figures. It means it does better than the replacement XJ40s & X300s a lot of the time.

That's bloody good for a 205(?)hp 1940s designed engine in a less than lithe body.

It's fake news. Trip computers talk bollocks. Try actually measuring the stuff and a few tankfuls then talk. ;)

The ONLY way of taking accurate fuel consumption readings is to calculate it by taking the odometer reading when filling up, the amount of fuel dispensed, converted into gallons, then driving until the tank is low and repeating this process. Then divide the difference in miles by the amount in gallons dispensed. And doing this each time will still give varying figures, depending on type of driving, but you get a fair average.

Just to be annoying, I've found Jags to be pretty accurate in displayed MPGs. None of the three I've had have been more than 1/2 a MPG out.

Well the high twenties on the way back was based on Actual Maths...

Is Max old enough to remember Mystic Meg? Might just be before his time.

(Just to make you feel old...)
I did wonder whether he'd know who she was, but you can't mistake what she's doing with that crystal ball in her mitts :-)
Yep you know she's going to ask for a tenner and try to sell you some lucky heather.

Wait, what. This Jag has a mpg trip computer? What is this tomfoolery about? I thought it was supposed to be a classic car.

Can't imagine it'll be very accurate either. I know Eddie Honda's XJ6 trip computer wasn't the most advanced or computationally powerful. Just changing between metric and imperial caused it to think about it for a couple of seconds!

Mine has the same delay built in, it's to prevent unseemly rush.
