Weren't the battery trays in Fords of this age rotten from the factory?

Yeah pretty much. They trap a lot of water. Really the whole front if just sulk of stupid small places that get rull of crap as there's only a very small wheel arch liner.

Was supposed to update this all ages ago but I couldn't be arsed. So a most exciting story cut short.

Fiesta ST was banging on the back drivers side suspension for ages. Took it to the normal place to change the damper as it was thinner than the Ford one on the passenger side. Turns out it was the top mount rubber that was bust. Changed it and a new exhaust, as that had just about snapped before the back box and all now quite. It is running a bit fast on tick over though so suspect yet another rubber breather hose buried in the engine is on its way out. (just like last time)

The Frontera has Ben worse though. It passed its test by having the bumper welded back on (well bodged) as it was hanging on by sod all. Can't find brackets for it anywhere.

Then the bonnet won't open and now the clutch has gone.

The bonnet cable must have stretched as I've taken it off the handle end and pulled but it does nothing. I've taken the lock off from behind the grill and can feel it catch moving but just not enough to open. As I've no idea how to or of it even can be adjusted I've got one from ebay (the only one) but it's not here yet.

I think the clutch is hydraulic as it's on the floor not high like when it's worn. Obviously I can't check anything until I get the bonnet open.

New bonnet cable arrived yesterday. Looks like it might have adjusters, not sure. When it's stopped rain and I don't feel like shit I'll see if I can get the old one off.

Not had time to even look at it yet but I'm hoping it's pretty easy job as the engine bay on the Frontera is pretty big.

In other news though the Fiesta has been a bugger in all this wet weather. It hates getting water anywhere near any of the electrics and while tick over sounds normal as soon as any load is put on it just starts misfiring. All back to normal when the engine has warmed up though.

Thinking about electronic ignition but not sure yet.
