The garage I'm associated with acquired a 51 plate late Mk4 Fiesta. I felt a bit sorry for it so during a top level management drinking and strategy meeting I agreed to buy it.

The paintwork is as flat as a pancake. It's got a long MOT but with plenty of advisories. Showing only 62,000 miles. DHSS spec with keep fit windows and no central locking. I'm not 100% sure, but I think this may very well be the first car I've owned that lacks a temp gauge. Interior is great other than the trim peeling off the driver's side door card. NS door lock has been forced at some time.

To it's credit, it drives 100% and handles great. In fact, it reminds me of a Puma an ex girlfriend had as her company car. Even the OHV Kent/Valencia/HCS/Endura lump is quiet.

As I'm currently out of work due to the fucking DVLA and rapidly running out of cash, why did I spunk money on another car? I'll have to admit that I don't have many excuses. The only one I can think of is that if I don't get my licence back soon I'll have to find an interim job, probably delivering pizzas for Domino's and there's no fucking way I'm going to make that pay using the Range Rover.

So anyway, did this purchase pass without a hitch? Obviously not! Being keen to play with my new toy, I contact my insurance company to add it as a second car which didn't cost that much. I then try and tax it which is when the fun and games start. We have a V5 for it but it's the old V5 in the last owner's name. We search the garage from top to bottom and come to the conclusion that it must be somewhere at my mate's house, he who owns the garage. He can't find it but has the email from the DVLA confirming the change of keeper so he's applied for a duplicate V5.

I suppose that'll at least give me a few days to T Cut it before I take it home.

In that instance, can you tax it at the Post Office?

These must be rapidly becoming retro, especially as they're disappearing fast.

Shame its not the 1.25 Zetec lump. Back when I was 17/18, a couple of mates had Fistas with that engine and the revved far better than any right to.
