Classic cars as investments?

Talk about your cars etc here. Keep it sort of sensible and on topic please.

Me in Harehills, where the riots were.
You could argue near is poetic licence but I've walked a fair bit further after a night on the piss.
Harehills was ok, loads of student nurses used to live there.

Was the Headingley mile pub crawl a thing when you were there

Late FX4 shaped hacks have got to be worth stashing away for a decade. As they're all over 25 years old now they can be exported to the US.

I seem to remember that it was but it was a student thing.
We had our own pub crawls that avoided them.

As lovely as this is, I find it hard to believe there are many people in this world prepared to pay £65k for this. Even if right now, will there be in 10 to 20 years time?

I've just asked a couple of mates similar age to me who have a distinct interest in cars and they have no idea what it was. Tbh I only barely new it was a Jensen myself and no idea on the model.

I find it hard to believe there are people spending that sort of money on Chinese Volvos with a three pin plug but there you go.....

And neither would I spend 65K on a plastic sports coupe with a lorry engine but what people ask for cars and what they get are often vastly different.

True but that Volvo has a very large marketing machine behind it to convince people they need it.

People spend more than that on a shitty mk2 escort.

But they have a much wider market appeal and far better known. Demand for them is high.

A friend of my Dad's swapped (I use the term loosely there was probably money involved) a 541R for a Mk2 Zephyr in order to tow his caravan. Although both cars were frankly piles of shit I should imagine the Zephyr eventually gave him the better return for reasons you cite in the Escort example.

Plus the Zephyr made an infinitely better oval car.....
