Found the yard, and it is set in what estimate to be what must be 50 acres, minimum. No curtain siders in at present, but loads of cars. Nothing taken off, or stacked, just go in and take off what you want.
If a car has a decent engine and gearbox, the yard rip them out. Otherwise take what you want, and according to the bloke stripping bits from a Clio, bits are dirt cheap.

Didn't see any crash damaged cars in there, mostly just old.

Going back next week with a toolbox so I can look at the bigger part of the yard that I didn't have time to go to.
I'd be looking for rust free 80's and 90's body panels for Mercs, BMW's etc.

Lots of year 2000 onwards Mercedes in there, all rust free panels. No BMW's in the bit of the yard I looked in.

Surprised to see a Tata in there.

The Des signifies the the car is officially scrapped. They do have some cars that are still registered that you can buy complete. But then, why are they in a scrapyard?

Cheaper to store there rather than some sort of showroom?
Maybe a sort of overflow storage where they're advertised online and bought to the showroom when someone is interested?

No, the cars are borderline scrap from the looks of it. All tatty and sunburnt like a 60 year old expat, but still running.
I imagine that once the ITV's on them expire, they are officially scrapped and have Des sprayed on them.
