Re: Tales of a Transhit
Depends on whether the T2 owner is a 23 year old hipster millienial twat with a gay manly beard who's struggling to undo the wheel nuts.
Or some middle aged fart trying to look cool, bit like your Dad wearing Superdry.

Neither apply in my case, I'm old.
I couldn't look cool if my life depended on it and wouldn't even bother trying.

Re: Tales of a Transhit
We have a new Transhit for work (hire van). Turkish built. It's a proper bag of shit and already suspect at a few thousand miles. Heater goes stone cold when you stop moving and the engine rattles occasionally. And it stinks like fuck because of that horrible bile a modern diesel engine needs. Oh, and the fuel consumption is absolutely dreadful.

Looking cool is like patina on old motors: if you think that you have to add it, then you just don’t get that you will never have it.

Re: Tales of a Transhit
Transhits are abysmal. There is only one unreliable modern van worth a damn, the Renault Trafic. They too have issues but they drive so well and are comfortable. After 45 minutes in a Transhit my right leg is in agony. I fucking detest them.

But they rotted like a bastard. The old T4 was a better bet, from an era when VW stuff wasn't junk.

We had a couple of Mark 3 Transhits but petrols, a 1986 2.0 and a 1989 1600. I Waxoyled the 1600 when we bought it at a year old and it was still unrusty when scrapped in 2004.

Re: Tales of a Transhit
My tipper hasn't been used for ages. Disconnected the battery as there's a drain. Of course the battery was still dead. Charged it up overnight and is apparently 'full' according to the charger. Engine only turns very slowly then behaves like a flat battery. Tried jump leads from Punto but same result. Tried my Lucas charger/ starter and same result. Thought it might be a bad earth lead but adding a jump lead made no odds.
I'll try a known good battery. I only want to move it 10 yards.
