It should be easy but it sits so far back I had trouble getting enough reach with the engine crane then there is the torque convertor. Usually they bolt to the flywheel but this has 4 studs, you have to get them lined up with the flywheel before bolting the gearbox together. I found this out when the engine would lock up when I tried to turn it over to line them up. I had to losen the bell housing bolts and put wedges in so I could turn it and line it all up.The engine is so heavy you have to use jacks and the crane just to tilt it. Bloody thing is in now, just the carb to bolt on and set the timing then it should run.

I am quite looking forward to driving it once it is done but it will still go up for sale. I have too much money in it now and fancy something different. I might even get something modern but I think I will end up with another hearse from Spain or possibly Poland as they have some real interesting coach builders

This fucker is really pissing me off now as it just won't run properly as the poxy Holley carb is playing up again. The new float valves are sticking yet again. So I have just ordered a fancy new Edelbrock carb for the ungrateful bastard, It had better run like a dream after this. I hate Holley carbs they are almost as shit as Pierburg crap. What idiot thought it is a good idea to mount the float chambers on the sides so you can't easily check what the floats are doing. Oh well it's only money

I just keep telling myself it will be worth it in the end. Pretty much everything will be new on the poxy thing when I get to selling it. It will be a well sorted motor though that just looks scruffy and has a rough interior. I might have to keep it though if it is really nice once done.

You might end up keeping it through nobody actually being able to appreciate it, too, sadly.....Which may not be a bad thing as it will probably run forever now....

The early ones had glass float covers. They then changed it up, and then sent production to China.

Nothing ends up well going down that road.

I spent an hour or so on the 'turd this morning putting the front inner wheel arch gaurds back in and giving it a little run to the petrol station and back as the fuel lihjt was on. It seems to be running ok but I need a stronger throttle return spring before doing any more miles in it. I will do a bit more next time I am in the workshop and give it a wash. The way things are it will be another couple of months before I get a chance to really use it though. One small glimmer of hope out of all this is I might be able to keep it as long as the work starts coming in again before the end of June. The small business grant will help pay the bills so I won't be so desperate to sell it. That is an awful picture as I used my phone to take it.

It does look lovely & moody dumped* out there.
