I know where there's a pretty good 300 Tdi 3-door. It's ex-red5, ex-gdhaydock, ex my ex, currently owned but generally being stored by a mate. He's done all the necessary welding on it, and it's got a rocketship of an engine, it's basically finished though so he'll not want to let it go cheap.richardthestag wrote: ↑Thu Apr 23, 2020 9:04 pmI have been looking for an s1 2 door for ages. they all seem to have dissolved, no point having a 4 door because I already have a RR. I want the 2 door disco as a load carrier. faced with a project the RR would be worth a little more at the end so why restore the poor old disco
BUT no self levelling suspension nor ABS nor AirCon nor 3.9 v8 option
Still would have a 2 door disco1, might even do it as a 200tdi

Re: Land Rover Rustorashun
The Disco I had years ago was an early 200Tdi, it was pretty rotten back in about 2005 when I had it. I liked it though & only sold it due to a scored bore & that I wasn't using it once I discovered motorbikes.

I had a 2 door Disco 1 V8 on carbs. Lovely.
Tomorrow I take my Disco TD5 for its MOT. I think this will either its 12th or 13th MOT under my ownership.

right chaps and chapettes
more regular updates are on the channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCuPaTT ... _4ypXxY0lQ
Here are the piccies and banal commentary for them what like that sort of thing
Got to love a lockdown cabin fever pallet fire, fuelled by stupidity, pints of Gin and a couple of gallons of used engine oil Sandy the Landy project plods on, held up by slow delivery (I am not complaining) and shitparts.
Puddle under the front axle was a spill from me filling it up heater unit and motor went back in, heater motor is the same smiths motor as used in MGB. Shit load cheaper than Landy items grande start up day was baulked by poor performance from the fuel pump. parts ordered non return valves work fine but the diaphragm is dead got the floors fitted treated the chassis top rails with vactan before fitting floors other fault that I found was that the ignition switch spring back from position III to Position II wasn't working. Stripped down the elect switch to see if I could fix it distracted myself from slow part supply to change air filter of Aegean Blue 1994 Range Rover Fitted Bosch super4 plugs and new HT leads, proper purrs now Part 2 coming

Part 2
New wiper motor arrived, had to fix the drive gear from the old motor but otherwise a piece of cake, wipers now wipe weather was fucking beautiful last week, going to be pissing down this week Fuel pump rebuild kit arrived and is wrong! part number is right and contents of box are wrong. Not bad for a mechanical fule pump rebuild kit used on just about every British built car from 1948 to 1985. fuck wits. this crap came from Turkey. FamousFour refunded me instantly and apologies for the issue. pissed off I thought I would do a strip down and refurb of the Stromberg carbs off the Bobtail Range Rover On the daily walk, Clive's Heffers and a single Bull calf, lucky bastard, we in the field. Exmoor in the background ultrasonic cleandown worked well enough, derelict vs first stage clean here dashpots were bead blasted, a rubdown with steel wool given them a nice sheen Ignition switch failed!, new part ordered! also the headlight full beam works but the flasher doesn't. The column switch is plain worn out so a new one ordered part 3 coming up

Re: Land Rover Rustorashun
part 3
loaded a 1/2 ton of scrap steel into the back of dads series IIa ready for weigh in at the end of lockdown. and noticed a big fat cock in the paddock Red Shed, 1971 Range Rover project has been sold, bar the shouting. The customer want it standard so I am keeping the Offy and Holley. Fitting standard Strom CDS175 carbs back onto the engine as that is what the customer wants Pretty much exactly as when I bought it just a smidge over 5 years ago It was modified in the mid/late 1990s but all easily reversible. I am keeping the rims and arch extensions. anyone fancy them? Here it is without arch extensions or Wolfraces Bottom tailgate is glassfibre and a shit fit, I need to find enough bits to allow a new lower tailgate to be fitted out. I have all that stuff including the swing down numberplate bracket celebrating with a pint of Gin, what was I celebrating? Engine is a runner! Matching numbers except the gearbox which I believe was a factory warranty replacement from the number stamped on it. Land Rover records are shit Top tailgate was jammed stuck, has been sinvce before I bought it. Bottom rail fell off! tailgate was jemmyed open Part 4 coming up

Nice work. The parts thing is a kicker - always when it's 'I'll crack on and do this now' type scenario.

Re: Land Rover Rustorashun
fart 4, and that's it for this upload
I had to pull the lower dash out as there were some wiring faults preventing start up. Look at this shit interior. Seat frames underneath are original though dash top is slightly newer by a year or maybe two. I am confident of this cars 1971 pedigree though crumbs the frame is very rotten, but nothing that cannot be fixed with pattern parts and a month with a welder ready to tow back into the polytunnel, pending pissing rain tonight! and getting the next owner to come and see it post lock down.

Yay updatings!
I do like RR/LR stories now it's not me trying to glue them back together after the factory pritt stick run out.
