What's Your Worst Experience With A Garage Or Main Dealer?

Post by Warren t claim »

Back in 1992 I dropped my Escort RS1600i off at a garage for an MOT and cambelt change. Being at a loose end for a few hours I had a mooch around the local shops and after a couple of hours I decided to have lunch at a nearby cafe. Imagine my surprise to see my car thrashed up the High St before being brought to a stop by just the handbrake outside the local chippy and after overshooting said take away was ragged in reverse into a parking space. With hindsight I should've grabbed my repo tools out of the boot (he left it unlocked) and drove it away causing the garage to have to make an uncomfortable phone call to me.

I've told the tale before but for me it's the garage stealing my MG for five years over a bill that wasn't mine.

My insurance company went bust while it was in for crash repair. The law etc all said that if I paid 10% of the cost on top of the excess I could have my car back & the garage would eventually get paid the other 90% by the Motor Insurance Bureau, the garage refused to accept that though and stole my car. As always plod were fuck all help and five years later having given up ever seeing the car again I got a call asking me to collect it as it was costing too much to store.

So yeah, Robin (bastard) Lackford in Cowfold. Never trust the cunts.

I've never really dealt with a main dealer before. All my cars were shite. The only main dealer experience was with arnold shark when the transhit had to go in for warranty work twice. First time was for a new ignition barrel. The second time was for new door hinges. There's a fault as they're too weak and cause the door to drop and catch the wing. It had to go in for hinges and a new wing, resprayed etc.
Arnold shark were great. Nothing was a bother. In hindsight I should've handed the fucker back 20k miles on at the time.
I didn't get a courtesy van. But I didn't ask.

Back in 99 I put my Primera GT into the local Nissan dealer for a service. It would be collected from security and dropped back off by the time my shift is finished. But this one time it wasn't back so i'm standing at security waiting.

Now there is a nice long stretch of road that leads past Nissan to were I work. I could hear something motoring yep you guessed it, it was my Primera driven with some gusto by the young dealership rarff. I played fuckin hell with him who denied everything and complained to the dealer, who gave me the next service foc.
