Paid and picked up today by (I think) Inspector Morose. Awaiting delivery tomorrow by worldofceri.

Been a bit of a shit year, so a little Xmas present to myself with some inheritance I received this year. Rather quite excited!!

Had some issues with the V5 earlier today where it was still on the owner before the sellers name. Got a receipt and the seller seemed pretty genuine.

Bought sight unseen, apart from some poor pictures on an eBay auction. So also a bit nervous. Has been regularly MOT'd with no real bad advisories or failure till 2018 though.

The eBay auction is still about if you look for it. Not the price I paid as it didn't hit reserve, but wasn't massively more. No pictures apart from that and this from a March 1996 Practical Classics


Hilariously* I think this car actually is now suffering from the issues warned about in this article.


Will need some welding to both back rear arches, nearside (bolt on) wing and a-pillar. The pillar is the biggest concern as these can be rust traps that rot out from the hinge. Underside looks good from the photos though.
I'm promising myself not to poke to begin with and just drive the bugger.

That looked a right bargain. Nice colour too, good luck with it.

As a strapping six footer I can't imagine I'd be able to comfortably drive one. You never know, though.

According to the DVLA the colour was originally Red but given it was Iris Blue in that 1996 issue, it must have been resprayed quite a time ago. The boot area in the inner wing and cabin floors look like a darker shade of blue. Maybe gone through three colour changes (two shades of blue) in that time?

It's going to need paint and I may get it done professionally on this if the car is solid enough. Not certain which colour but I do like Iris (Baby) Blue so it may stay that. Wrong colour for year but early MK1 Midgets did come in it though. Or maybe white.

At a distinctly average 5ft10, I thankfully fit into pretty much anything. So makes sense for me to get these cars while I'm still young and nimble enough to get out of them with some dignity!

Admittedly by the time I am in my 60s, these maybe nearly worthless from being unfashionable dinosaurs, petrol shortages (cause electric) and the boomer market far too old to have any chance of owning one.

Seller assures that this is primer on bare metal, not over filler


Floors look solid from what can be seen but just hoping that the replacement panel was welded in properly


The metalwork is almost on all this side with a very clear* picture showing what needs doing.

I'm guessing the grey primer is where it was rusting so it's been sanded back and brush painted?

Even if all the grey bits are rotten it's still a bargain for what you paid... Usually half arsed older restos go properly bubbly, that one looks fairly straight.

Glad to see it's not got the normal Spriget bodge of welding new floors to the spring hangers rather than doing it properly.

Presumably that and/or paint has flaked off.

Seller didn't do the V5 when he bought it, so I presumed he owed it since 2010. But apparently not.

Not sure if it's because his son owned it since then or what. Only found out about this V5 anomaly earlier today just before paying for it.

I did find a C&C advert from earlier this year. Not sure if it's his sons advert or his.
