Bin 'em - you'll never see backwards out of a steamed up hood window and with the top down you won't need 'em.....

Hood? I'm planning no hood and only a full length tonneau!
Pretty sure the hood only existed to keep the softer owners happy.

I like the look of the later cars with the lights. You can put super bright festoon LED's in and they become useful in the dark.
It's also handy for parking in a multi-storey, as the lights come on as soon as you put the lever through the gate. So, you can get lights quickly even before you've stopped to begin the maneuver to reverse into a space.

I still say keep them so idiots driving/walking up behind have less excuse to say they didn't know you were reversing into a space.

Re: 1968 MG Midget
They never fucking look at them anyway and I've yet to find reversing lamps that actually light one's way to any useful degree. The ones on the T25 have a habit of staying on in all gears when the switch corrodes up underneath the transaxle, the Focus ones are only useful as spare bulb holders, neither Morris has any and the Chrysler's were changed to indicators. Nobody takes much notice of those either.....

Keep them and put them on a manual switch with the brightest bastard bulbs you can find.

Re: 1968 MG Midget
I used to have a mini pair of 55w spots facing backwards & downwards off the roof of my Disco. Brilliant for reversing etc off road & I never* used them to annoy tailgaters.

Re: 1968 MG Midget
All classic Minis were enhanced* by rear-facing Pathfinders or Sabres and no I never knowingly dazzled boot-sitters as there didn't seem to be a warning bulb inside the car.
