Please share the sellers name so we can avoid them.

I use those plastic filters - two on each car. I have been changing them yearly but my old stock is running low (the Motor Factor opposite my house has helpfully ceased trading....). Will definitely be buying carefully now.

I put some seatbelts in the van as I've heard that they're a good idea in the event of an accident. Well these ones were hopeless, they only lock after they've payed out about 6 foot of webbing which would just about stop you falling off the end of the bonnet. They're going in the bin and I'll replace them with statics.
Today in Corby Glen, which gained the "Glen" to stop it being confused with Corby or Corby Trouser Press. Lincs ain't all flat neither, that's 5 clicks on the handbrake.

Fixing them to a bit of meccano isn't likely to save any lives.

That's a wank fitting job, putting the Meccano aside for a second, I can't see them ever working as intended as they are installed at such a jaunty angle. What do the indestructions say on orientation of the reel?

I was going to say I bet the reel is at the wrong angle, hence they don't work.

That would be so if they were the Securon pendulum type, but these simply lock when jerked and can be mounted at any angle.
As for the strength of the fixings, let's compare my top mounting point to what is proven to be adequate on an MGB. Theirs is simply a hole through the rear inner wing with a spreader washer on the outside.

My mount is a 4mm triangular gusset welded to 25x25x2 horizontal and vertical box sections that run the length of the van and from top to bottom respectively They are also bonded to the outer panel, which is alone thicker than that BL one.
Of course my MGB and van are incomparable with anything modern safety wise but I simply lack the skill to weld them onto a nice strong VW golf.

Having criticised my work I look forward to your expert comments on the Volvo 240's rear seat belt mounts.
