Now, as some of you may be aware, I’ve built up a small following on YouTube by making videos about EVs and transition to electric motoring. A large number of my audience are very opposed to continuing to burn fossil fuels for transportation.

The obvious thing to do to keep these people happy, then, was to meet a dodgy character in the sex trafficking capital of the UK and take delivery of a three litre beater

Nice that your trousers match the Audi’s interior.

Of course not everything works, it’s a sixteen year old luxobarge after all.

So far I’ve found (and knew about, no surprises)

1) OSR indicator doesn’t work. Tried to fix it, made it worse. It’s a stupid LED thing, a replacement is £280++. Found a facelift one for £108 - going to fit that even though it’ll look stupid unless I replace the others too. As long as it’s safe and legal I’m not arsed, for a bit at least.

2) folding MMI screen gets a bit stuck and you need to help it fold/unfold. New gears required - £8.99 on eBay for some metal ones to replace the shredded plastic ones. Will sort once I work out how to get it out of the dash. Sure it’ll be a 5 min job…..

3) Electric tailgate is pretty hesitant, needs some assistance. Guess it’s a similar issue to the MMI screen just more expensive!

4) Headlights are cloudy. Looks like someone tried sanding the NS one and gave up.

5) Screen wash is very reluctant. Guess there’s a blockage somewhere.

6) Parking sensors inop. Given it’s the length of a cruise liner I’d like to fix this if possible.

Not bad really for 201k miles!

With that new alternator you'll be able to charge the EVs with it on tick over...

It’s had these optional 20” wheels on from new, aparrently they’re worth a few bob to OMG SCENEYO types. Would be tempted to swap them out and redeem some cash but they have good tyres on so I’m equally not that fussed

It rides perfectly well with them on. The air suspension does a good job of hiding the skinny tyres. If it were crashy, I'd agree and get rid.
I forgot to mention the squirters. They were always just average but seemed to be worse yesterday for some reason.
In respect there's not much wrong with it really. Compared to what could actually go wrong!
The engine and box are a peach. No smoke at all and no rattles or squeaks. He had it ticking over in his garage for a while, while doing the alternator. It smelt perfectly fine none of that acrid shit you normally get with a dirty diesel.
If it did go tits up you'd get your money back in parts no bother. I wonder what the cats are worth.

Diesel cats aren't normally worth much

The squirters will be a mesh filter.

I think you’re right. Chucked a kettle of hot water into it and it improved things slightly but not much.

Washer bottle is obviously properly buried. Wheel arch liner needs to come out. Deep joy.

Had a go at the fucked headlight with a cheapo restoration kit - has improved it but it needs doing again with some better gear.

Noticed the xenon bulb on that side is pink too so that’ll need replacing, bet that’s also really good fun! Not the same side as the washer bottle either.
