That's over 100k is just under 7 years.

Off the top of my head, in that time
  • on its third set of tyres
  • wheels refurbished
  • alternator (used) and belt changed
  • brake pads all round 2 or 3 times
  • one set of discs
  • NSF caliper piston and two rear calipers
  • a few sets of wipers all round
  • a few air filters, oil filters, cabin filters and engine and transmission oil changes, spark plugs. EGR plate cleaned out and valve clearances done.
  • two rear lights. NS when Mrs H biffed neighbour's rental car door reversing out. OS when some van wanker did a car park hit and run.
  • a pair of headlamps due to fogging/adjusters
  • middle and rear exhaust once
  • tailgate lock actuator
  • 28 tax discs, 7 insurance discs and 7 NCT discs
  • a handful of lightbulbs
  • on its 2nd battery (3rd since new)
  • air bag ECU had to be done when I bought it
Not much in the grand scheme of things, bar wear and tear items.

Yeah, I'm still waiting for the CVT to exploderate.

It could do with a bit of TLC underneath before it gets too grotty though.

306 UPDATE

As the weather was mostly nice yesterday, I decided to continue edging bits of lawn. To complete a particular section I had to move the Pug back, but the exhaust was on the floor.

Simple solution: just get the garden wire to hold it up for now

Dug out the Varta from the shed, it didn't need much cranking to start and reversed it to the end of the drive. Edged that bit of lawn and washed that part of the part of the drive down. Suppose I should just blow a load of cash on it and get it ticketed up. €200 / quarter Motor Tax isn't much of an incentive though.

Good for 5000 miles, that exhaust fix.

Pity the rest of it won't.

Is it an early 306 or a later one? Have you checked for rot around the rear seatbelt anchors?

I think I've had a coat hanger on the Minor exhaust for about 4 years now....The strain of towing a caravan proved too much for the Great-Bunch-of-Lads rubber mounts supplied with it. I fixed it temporarily* on a campsite.

Nope. Why would I?
