Jizz update

Not actually done anything, but after the headlamp nonsense of shite on the inside of the lens I was scouting around for some decent lenses, without costing the earth.

First part of the search was at Baldy Bezos's Bazaar.

HOW MUCH? £145.62 PLUS £8.80 DELIVERY?

That's more than a complete aftermarket unit! Further investigation only nibbles it down to £186 for a pair.

Stuff that, lets see what the great bunch of lads can do direct.

That's more like it, so I ordered these for future use for €70.11 A PAIR INCLUDING SHIPPING.

That was 21st October. The postman tried to deliver these on 11.30am Saturday, but the cunt carded it as I was out and Mrs Honda WAS STILL SNORING HER HEAD OFF. As the PO shuts 1pm on Sat, the card said available for collection after 9am MONDAY. Ah bollocks. Good job it's one of those mibbie in the future when I can be arsed jobs.

Still in cling film. Quality looks okay to me and arrived in one piece.

Are you sure they aren't just cling film?

I'm sure they're new-fangled polycarbonate tat. How many months I'll get out of them on a car - yet to be determined.

Is it worth spraying them with clear lacquer first?

Rialto update

Today has been totally dry, but it's Baltic outside, even with the winter overalls and a jumper on.

As usually, I started not long before the sun fucked off and dragged some tools outside to start on the OSR brake. Wheel off and...hmmm.

Yes, I'd disconnected the brake pipe to the NSR some time ago. On the bright side, the drum came off easily enough. Quick pic to remind myself how it all goes back together. Standard Girling drums with the sliding wheel cylinders.

Took off the central shoe hold-down springs and this silly little split pin for the handbrake arm and got the shoes off. Didn't take much work to remove the adjuster from the backpate

Then got distracted and attacked the diff housing with a wire brush to ID the rear axle. Boring "A" axle in this.

Back to the job and a bit of heat was needed to shift the handbrake cable clevis pin. Removed the U-shaped retaining plates for the wheel cylinder and just cut through the other brake pipe as the pipe union hex was getting mashed. I did get it out with a socket after removing, but I think the thread might be shot.

Anyway, that's everything off the OSR backplate.

So do you have a target to get this done or are you more realistic and know that life will get in the way, especially with having kids?

I have a target to get this done ASAP. Then get it registered. It really doesn't* need that much doing to it. I'm going to throw the engine together with what I have, when I find the other bits, I'll build another engine up so I don't have to pull it off the road.

Optimistic? No - I don't have to get it MOT'd here.

Rialto update

Spent half an hour on this today and removed nearside braking stuff before the rain came.

Will need to investigate why the anti-roll bar link is scuffing the chassis. Also, back box doesn't have a clamp on the joint.

Next up will be the front brake.
