Re: Eddie Honda's wheels of steel (and occasionally alloy)
I'M NOT SLEEPING, I'M JUST RESTING MY EYES UPDATE
Well despite it being go to work time, I had to have the smallest of small goes at doing something.
Outer channel off. Beating an impact screwdriver just mashed the heads. Dug out a 5/16" AF spanner out and proceeded to loosen the right hand one until it sheared off. Had a go at the left hand one and that started turning. Disappeared to the shed to return with the drill and drilled the bastard out. Finally peeled the rusty channel from the carpet.
These countersunk Phillips screws also are originals with Binx nuts.
I think it'll be raining tomorrow.

What a rusty shitheap. Reminds me of my own wrecks.
Carry on.
Carry on.

Mate of mine had a Rusty Regal. I've never seen so much brown stuff on a fibreglass car.....He tried to weld the rear exhaust bracket back together, in situ the silly twat.
This was way before mobile phones, even the Boycie type with the indoor aerial and he lived on one of the Forest small-holdings. By the time he'd run to the house and called the fire brigade almost the entire 3/25 was a red plastic puddle, just the front-end pointing skywards like K9 with a broken back.
As Drum says...Carry On.
By the way, is that a quid you found under the seat?

Bought from Screwfix Carlisle before I got the boat back last August. Chargers + batteries are special order, so worked out the next best thing that was in stock - drill, charger + two 3AH batteries.
Only really needed the charger for the strimmer! (Oh and the blower upper)

Those Makitas still last alright but those plastic chucks are a bag of wank after a bit of use.

Remember last September I bought a lump of steel?

Well I finally got round to doing something with it.
Monday night Mrs H asked me if we could trailer an armchair from her sister's to her mother's. "Er, can do, but the trailer isn't empty". She thought it was. "I'll have to get that ultra heavy piece of steel out of it". "Saturday would be better than Friday".
Having checked the weather forecast, it looked a better idea to do the job early doors on Saturday. With that in mind, I eventually got out of the door Friday night well after teatime and proceeded to just pile things high and anywhere so I could have a clear run to the back of the shed.
Balancing act completed and whilst I was doing that I pumped the tyres up on the trolley. That'll do as I can dump the lawnmower outside for half an hour.
I got Mrs H to help me move the bench which was just outside the shed door. I had no worries about leaving it outside as it's been outside the other house for ages and not deteriorated. Think it must be painted or powder coat over galvanised steel.
Base in position, it was time for a tea break before dealing with the heavy bastard top. That was in the trailer at the front of the house. Access down the side of house is less that a metre wide so the plan was to stand it on end and roll it round on the trolley and into the shed and lift it up onto the base.
This didn't go quite to plan because in the intervening hour between then and pumping the tyres up, two had gone flat. Fortunately, they were on opposite corners so I decide to press on regardless. A bit of pain to steer, but it got there. Mrs H looking impressed* as always.
Another bit of manoeuvring and it was laid flat on the trolley and lifted up and shuffled across the table.
Ten years in this place next month, but I've done a thing™ and finally got a workbench sorted!
(Yeah, yeah, I KNOW I don't have a fucking vice)

I do, but not of the bench/machinist's variety.
