Re: Panhard's Panhard
Yes they do all booked for the 12th. The windscreen went back in maybe a little too easy but it will need a new seal etc if it does get painted properly. Polished the bonnet and half the front bumper, but it gets too hot in the workshop as it used to be a greenhouse. It gives really good natural light but is bloody boiling in the summer and freezing in winter.Eddie Honda wrote: ↑Fri Aug 02, 2019 12:56 pm Does SGS still have the contract for inspecting these things?

Re: Panhard's Panhard
A small update on the Panhard, it now has a UK reg but the DVLA seem unable to use any common sense as they have the make down as Panhard dyna 212 rather than make Panhard and model Dyna Z12. They obviously took the details off the carte grise as the Z did look like a 2 on there. Today I fitted new headlights and started to retrim the dash.

Re: Panhard's Panhard
This is coming together nicely. Interesting registration mark issued - most seem to have an 'X' in them now and 3 numbers followed by letters. Are you going to get the curved plate?

Re: Panhard's Panhard
Hopefully I will find some plates in France at the autojumble but if not there are some correct blanks on ebay. I will start on the brakes next week as I have new wheel cylinders and hoses to go on the front.

Re: Panhard's Panhard
Ok as most of you will know I went to the autojumble in Mezidon at the weekend and had no success finding anything I actually needed. I could of bought a lot of stuff I didn't need but with the current pair of money pit classics I thought I better prioritise. Anyway after looking round the piles of old French tat and bumping into a few other wobbers I had to shoot off to Paris and meet the main Panhard specialist in person. Apparently he doesn't really do mail order and doesn't take cards so a visit was the only way to buy from him. Hopefully now we have met he will be prepared to deal with me and post parts. All I can say about this bloke is wow !!!!. His workshop is in a run down suburb of Paris with no signage other than a tiny little sign by the door bell. Security is pretty important to him and he keeps it locked up all the time so I didn't take any pictures of his amazing collection. I thought normal Panhards were rare but his most common car was a PL17 estate and even that was a rare one with split folding rear seats. I have forgotten the names of most of his cars but they were mostly by French coachbuilders and very rare with no more than about 20 ever made of each. He even had 2 Panhard powered helicopters. There were a few DB Panhards but they were all slightly special with different bodywork or Le Mans race cars. I would of loved to of got some photo's but it seemed rude to ask. If you love Panhards and get to Paris it might be worth asking to have a look at this guy's collection. Anyway I spent far more than I wanted but have now got pretty much all I need except for tyres so will spend the rest of today fitting it all. So what does over 800 quids worth of Panhard bits look like ?
There you go not much to look at but it does get it mobile again.1939 Hotchkiss 864

Much more impressive than the new ECU my eldest son paid £800 or so for for his C3 a couple of years or so back.

Re: Panhard's Panhard
I found the coachbuilder Pichon Parat and pretty much every car on this page belongs to this bloke. They really are great looking things with serious performance. He has one that does over 200kph not bad for an 850cc twin.

So some weirdo with an irrational fear of everything is holding these cars hostage.

Re: Panhard's Panhard
So the Thunderbird took up a load of my time over the last month and the little Panhard got neglected. That all changed this week though with the arrival of 4 tyres. They did fuck up and sent the wrong size to start weith but we got there in the end. Just over 500 quid for 4 tyres hurt a bit but she is now very close to roadworthy. I am just waiting for a couple of switches for the fog light and wipers and a repair kit for one of the wiper spindles and she will be ready to try on the road.
I had the sign writer next door knock me up a couple of number plates. I have also added small led front indicators on the bonnet edge as the originals up on the bulkhead are a bit hard to see for the modern motorist.
I repainted the rear lenses with lens paint which is a bit shit but certainly better than the faded originals.
The exhaust tip is a bit on the big side really but at least it should stop fumes getting in the car1939 Hotchkiss 864
