Do-able for smaller parts. My kitchen table (actually located in the living room as the kitchen is too small for a table) wouldn't hold the weight of a full engine, nor could I lift it there. ;)

Get yourself a grow bag tray to work on. Cheap, large, strong and deep to catch all that oil.

Grow bags are shit, I've had one for years and it's still the same size.

I'm not one for fannying about cleaning oil residue off the inside of an engine, I just want to get rid of the solid shit and be able to move the bits around without becoming instantly filthy. Especially when my workshop is my bedroom and all the crap I clean off has to be bagged for the bin.

I now need a valve spring compressor to remove the valves. I also elected to not take the sump off yet, mostly because I can't be arsed and I have other shit to do.

I don't think spring compressors are that expensive, I think I recall one being surprisingly cheap when I got mine for my Bonnie. I can't recall where from though.

The important bit is the height from the base of the head to the top of the spring so the compressor fits.

Pay maximum £10 for a valve spring compressor. And that excludes Chinese shit.
