Roffle it on the beige, £10 a ticket (2 for a tenner for us, don't tell them).

It sounds like exactly the sort of thing I should like, but I have far more of a preference for things with a French accent.

Vauxhalls just don't interest me, no matter how cheap.

It's a car. I'd have one as a shopping car as I wouldn't be bothered about parking dings etc., I'd just wob and rattle can it.

My sons would be happy with one, the same as their mates, as they've no interest in cars apart from getting from A to B reliably. Mobile phones are a different matter to them though.

We ran them as work vans 20 odd years ago. Had about 8 or 9 of them. We did many miles in them up and down the country everyday. Never serviced and I can't remember a single ftp. All 1.7td, mine was brand new when I started for them on a V reg. I held the top speed record of 118mph on a long downhill section of the A66.

I was subjected to Mk2 Astra company cars for a surprising length of time, looking back.....

Working in part of the Unilever empire, we had doom blue pool cars early in 1985, this was after a Sales Manager got himself a GTE.

By 1988 I was in part of the Pickfords Group and some time after I joined the Mk3 Escort pool cars were replaced by Mk2 Astras (not a popular move)

In 1998 after a chequered ten years I got my job in the docks and my first go in the pool car - you guessed, an Astra B. This was a diesel on a G plate and stayed on the fleet until around 2004. It's main function appeared to be fetching the takeaways on night shift.....

Nearly two decades of company service, not bad for a shitbox little hatchback design that I never really gelled with in any form - I suppose the least disagreeable was the original "A" model that I used to borrow off a mate in Kadett form. They just seemed to get duller.....

£1200 worth of Astra. This is a 1.3 which engine seemed to suit these better than the 1.6, and was quite fast enough.

MK2 astras were much better then MK3 scrotes. In 1.3 guise anyway. Can't speak for the others.
