Speaking of ruined, this keeps getting cheaper and cheaper. Much cheaper and I may have to buy it and restore/undo the mess. Local-ish to me too.

(Probably a good thing RBJ doesn't frequent here much anymore 😆)

That poor car, it does need saving.

Looks like some of the mounts are still there. Might be possible to just bolt back on the rubber bumpers?

Shame they put the god awful SC 1500 lump in them. I like to drive my cars spiritedly (rag the shit out of them) and I'd probably kill one of them pretty quickly.

I mean I could put the 1275 Moggie engine in it and put a 948/1098 that I have spare into the Moggie. But then I can't but help think I should hold out for a Chrome bumper (and/or a cheap Mini)

I had a 1500 when I was 20, I drove it like a yoof drives a sports car & never blew it up. Blew a diff apart once, but the engine never gave any issues.

This car is exactly the reason why I am always put off spending top end money on something shiny - especially from a dealer.

£6.5k was good money for one of these back in 2017.
The Jack is present along with lots of invoices including the sale invoice from Beaulieu garage in 2017 for £6500.

This is a running restoration project/barn find which is solid enough but filler is present some areas of the rear panels and paintwork generally is rough.
It was taken for a MOT in 2020 where the brakes, Anti roll bar bushes, headlight aim and a leaking fuel hose were picked up.
Currently sitting at £3.5k and no bids - despite the market rising in recent times. Looks like £3k has gone in the bin in that time. I'd say it's better on depreciation on a new car but they've gone up recently too!
If it doesn’t sell I’ll restore over the next couple years as originally planned.
I think you will be doing what you originally planned at that start price.

That one is a bit too rotten for me!

I have noticed the market cooling off a bit right now. 6 months ago this would have been sold already. Been listed nearly 5 days already now.

Minis seem a good bell weather on the cheaper end of the classic market. Always a demand and will never go away. But if they cool off in value/speed of selling then it's a good sign the market isn't so hot now imo.

The hammer prices at this reasonably major auction were a bit of a surprise.

Sub 2k 405 Mi16
Sub 8k 996 911
Several 3k MG Midget chrome bumpers
Sub 8k Stag
Etc
A lot not sold too
