Re: EBay Finds
Not a fan of four doors, because 4 door Metro shells are considerably lardier than the 3 door shells.
I've driven Nicky's 5 door 1.0 which was slow as fuck, especially with a full complement of passengers. 0-60 in about 40 something seconds. I've driven Matt's 3 door 1.3 which was quite nippy and also a RED HOT version. We constantly took the piss out of him for it.
Now there was another fella, Dan who also drove his mother's 5dr 1.0. I spotted it about half a mile ahead looking saggy-arsed heading out of Rhu village towards Faslane. I worked out that if I could keep my foot planted and be on his back bumper at Gully bridge, I'd have perfect line of sight for overtaking him. This went exactly to plan and it was clear on the brow and I shot past his fully laden Metro...in my Regal only two-up. He was dying of shame and there was fuck all he could do to catch up.

Re: EBay Finds
In my, admittedly rather limited, experience a Regal should piss a 1.0 Metro regardless of cargo differential. Only the screaming of his passengers served to moderate the velocity of my friend Dyker's 3/30....

Re: EBay Finds
I do like a good bit of brightly coloured Mini Clubman Estate tin. I'm surprised it hasn't sold yet especially at this price. Makes me wonder if this end of the Market is cooling off or just natural flow where it'll hot back up in the winter for projects.
If I hadn't got the Midget to sort, I'd probably have got this already. But as this would be a project even in the short term, I better try not digging my hole any deeper.

If I wasn't at the other end of the country I'd stage an intervention.
You already have more than enough rusty BL tin, you masochist.

Re: EBay Finds
I just had one of those “Dad, what car should I get for my commute, I can afford £15k?” conversations. Of course it ended with “can you lend me?”
Apparently this isn’t suitable. I would like it however, but these days I only commute to the pub, for which a sidevalve Ford seems ideal. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/267493838840263

Re: EBay Finds
I'd love a Pilot...First car I ever rode in apparently, back from the Maternity Hospital. Dad's old RAF buddy had one. They were indeed basically the pre-war V8 22HP model with a Prefect-type front grille and that inspired model name which evoked the recent heroes of WW2.
