But if you want a project maybe a good buy.

If you buy one where the wood is half fucked but looks better ultimately it still needs replacing so the job and cost is the same. Always makes me smile when people look at a car with rotten floors and view one with a big fucking hole as worse than one with a small hole....the difference in work required is minimal

Jaaag. What's the details? Engine? Spec?
From the age, wheels & black window surrounds I think it's a 6cyl XJR. Or could be a sport with different wheels.

Yeah, a ruddy great dent or nasty rusty hole far better than one of those cars that's got the pox. I viewed an old Neu Classe, a 2.5 I think it was, about 10 years ago. All solid and drove well but every... fucking.... panel had a dozen or so wee scabs needing at least a grind and paint, at worst a little zap of the sparkler. Hundreds of hours of work.
In fact, just the sort of car that the unscrupulous will blob and respray, no doubt some poor soul got a fright a few months or one winter down the line when they bought that BMW at some later date.

Another motor I looked at with a view to purchasing was a mk2 Jag, a humble 2.4. Rather than the pox it had psoriasis, having been given a respray. The owner was perfectly honest about it and honest that he'd been had over when he bought it all shiny in its new coat of paint. I liked the car but quite rightly walked knowing that it would have taken weeks just to peel off the offending top coat, never mind prepping the underlying old cellulose and respraying correctly. My thinking was that it had been resprayed with two pack or even water based paint without any prep.

3.2 Sport. That’s the good side. Last MOT was an advisoryfest of corrosion related issues.
