What on earth were they thinking with that chain? Get all the nasty grease and oil off so it doesn't go on the paintwork?

There's probably a video on YouTube somewhere telling folk to boil them in brine.

That reminds me, back in the day bikers I knew had a tin of grease like a cake tin - they put it on a camping stove and meted the grease, then put the chain in to give it a thorough grease. These things were sold for the purpose. Funny how things trigger a memory.

Aye, a big flat tin you put in the oven when Mum had gone out.....I saw some stuff that looked like bars of chocolate on a website the other day but I think they were more for your pushbike chains.

Not needed with O & X ring chains as they seal the grease in the rollers for life.

Bel-ray oil that's a real blast from the past, from memory they were one of the first to manufacture a synthetic 2 stroke oil.

I scored very low on the autie test. I’m cheerful, happy, confident, like meeting new people, chatty and largely sociable. What the fuck am I doing on this forum?

I used that grease stuff on my mum’s kitchen stove. Being a cack handed twat I managed to spill the black molten shit all over the place. What a mess. I wasn’t exactly flavour of the month.
