I think he's getting his Cliff films Expresso Bongo and Summer Holiday mixed up in his mind.mercrocker wrote: ↑Mon Sep 28, 2020 10:12 amfried onions wrote: ↑Sun Sep 27, 2020 10:47 pm
SWINGING 60'S COFFEE BAROnan generatorMobile business opportunity
Are you thinking what I'm thinking? Yes, coffee bar.

Let me tell you, I was alive in the "Swinging" 60s. I don't recall an instance where we drank coffee IN A FUCKING BUS.
If things ever return to "normal" even what passes for "normal" in this fucked up century I pledge to continue my complete embargo on drinking tea, coffee or anything served out of a bus, horsebox, Citroen H, thruppeny bit Morris, J van, arsehole Italian scooter abomination or old ambulance.
Proper Ice cream vans will be exempted but only if correctly presented.

Re: EBay Finds
I think it had come like that from East Kent, even in early 80's a set of shells cost me £650 but they quietened it down enough to get us to Holland, thus beating Cliff. Those AEC 9.6l engines weren't exactly stressed-124 bhp from 9.6 litres!mercrocker wrote: ↑Mon Sep 28, 2020 10:30 pm Bloody hell, who knocked them out of an AEC - or was it a Gardner? That London still turns up some interesting automotive finds.

Bought by the owner for 2 things, Weddings and Funerals, he set out to buy a new black Hawk, he could not get one, maybe as they were all sold to Government, so bought a Maroon one and had it stripped and repainted black before registration, i assume arranged by the dealer who sold it.
The car was parked in a dark dry garage every night and 43 years ago never came out again.
It was parked ready to go to work, business cards, Vip private hire company Brochure, Both black and white umbrellas for each occasion and a Dunn & Co top hat in it,s box. All still there along with a complete book pack, showing supplying dealer, starting handle etc

That's better, I'm sure it'll fly off the shelf now you've got a picture of the actual car you're trying to sell rather than one you think it looks like.

I should think about the only positive thing about that object is that it DOESNT look like a Bini.

Yes, I 'watched' it first time around, too. He mustn't have been happy with the hammer price, and what he's asking now means it's unlikely to fall into the wrong hands.mercrocker wrote: ↑Tue Sep 29, 2020 8:13 pm I was looking at that listing recently.....God, I hope that finds a good home. Regarding the colour, the most likely reason why the original buyer wouldn't have been able to obtain a new one in black is that 1967 was the final year for Hawks and Rootes sold the remaining stock at massive discounts. Therefore, the colour depended entirely on what the dealers had left in stock.

Re: EBay Finds
For £3995 it looks cheap tbh. On the road and looking fine for £6000, or 50% of some hateful 1300 Escort.
