The Boring And Long Winded Story Of a Man And His 405s

Talk about your cars etc here. Keep it sort of sensible and on topic please.

What?
You have a 4 or 5 too?

My 405 saloon is on 'Don't buy a Classic Car' atm, because one of my cars always is, for an insane asking price.
There are only two 405s listed atm, a Mi16 and mine.
Imagine my surprise when I was actually contacted by someone, but purely for asking whether the Estate in the background is also for sale.

For the record, my saloon is actually up for grabs for the right price. Daft offers are only tolerated on AS though.
We're talking four digits here and not a Penny less.

My Estate is not for sale. At least not for anything resembling sane money, because everything is for sale if the offer is substantial enough.
Go and find another 2.0 auto estate with all the Executive Mod Cons still working perfectly fine.
And yes, this includes the Cruise Control.

To get me out of my Estate would actually not require an offer. It would require to put something in front of me for exchange.

I've just read your advert.

It's refreshingly different from the usual.

The only thing that I would add is its service history.

Today some effort was made to preserve the long green one.

We did go to a garage, but they didn't work on the car. They were too busy with their own cars, including this Squiremobile:

But that wasn't the only three litre.

Actually there was tons of stuff there, but that's not getting the Peugeot serviced, is it? So we went to a motor factors where you could still buy a shrink wrapped Vauxhall Ventora manual and mudflaps with "CAVALIER" written on them to get some oil.

Although it was Andrew Page who sold us an air filter with a name.

We got Old Les settled in his new home and then spent the best part of an hour trying to remove the oil filter (name unknown) which is barely accessible and covered by pipes. Maybe we'd have done it quicker if the piece of shit filter wrench didn't keep slipping and also dismantling itself.

This doesn't look so bad for used engine oil. Unfortunately it's the ATF. Even more unfortunately it's all we could get out, since two drain plugs must be removed and the second one destroyed two socket adapters and turned a 5mm Allen key into a crazy straw.

And this is the point where we gave up and went to the pub. Tune in tomorrow for the thrilling conclusion of Gearbox Plug Removal tales.

What Conrad didn't show you is that I bought another one of those air filters at the same place at the same time.
It came in the same box, but is made in Bosnia Herzegovina.

Besides, the used engine oil looked better than the used ATF. A Junkman first.

I've never seen a 3 litre like that, it looks like it was 'inspired' by the Broadspeed XJCs.

Ecp prices seem to have gone up of late. Sutton auto factors seem to do a sterling job at getting parts correct and at a decent price. They never failed on anything I've owned even the trike. If you try them I'd collect and bring to Glossop once a month.
