My 14 is back on the road again. I fitted the repaired sump today, changed the oil filter and filled it back up. Figured it's only 600 mile short of a service so might as well do it now. Out on a test run and no leaks so far.

Back on two wheels again, with a Honda VFR750, ordinarily this would be a grin, but last Sunday my car fucked up and now the Honda is my only transport for the foreseeable future.
All my savings went on car repairs in june and also buying the VFR the same month.
I have that new bike, let's go for a ride feeling, but after getting it legal I have £11 left in my bank account for fuel until payday in nineteen days time.
A grin and a grump.

I had a VFR400Z at the turn of the century, my GPZ900R had fucked up number three crank big end for the third time, so I accidentally bought the VFR from a breakers, absolutely brilliant machine, if this one is half as reliable I shall be content.

Never heard a bad thing about VFRs to be honest.

You've never had a VFR1200 then. Absolute shite. We had 4 new ones at work back in 2010.
One seized due to machining swarf in engine.
The other three all had their rear shocks seize when they got hot, making them into hard tails. Headrace bearings were also rubbish.
Two others seized the front brakes if they were parked overnight after being ridden in the rain. Hopeless pieces of crap.
Didn't stop our fleet manager buying 4 more in 2016. All were sold off in 2018 because we refused to ride them, all with low mileages.

We had quite a few VFR 750's and 800's (pre V-Tec and V-Tec) over the years, some racking up 90,000 miles. Great bikes, really easy to jump on and just ride quickly.

The Mets Special Escort Group switched to the VFR1200's from BMW boxers. Within a couple of years they were back on BMW's

Tbh I'd forgot about the 1200. I was thinking of the 750/800s

Best forgotten. I just loved the way I could get on an old 750 or a brand new 800 and feel at home thrashing them both from the off.

I remember a VFR750 that was passed around a few of us in the taxi firm biking gang. Carl had it first and he managed to flip it with the Honda having a soft landing on top of him. Next it was sold to Howie, one of our operators who I taught to ride. It spat him off on a roundabout and during his stint in A&E he discovered that he has diabetes. I was offered the VFR cheap with cosmetic damage but as I'd just bought a tidy GSX600 Teapot that week I declined. Dave 77, AKA Bluetooth bought it and a few months later was involved in a nasty smash on the motorway that resulted in him losing both legs and an arm.
