I popped out to a cafe near York I like for breakfast this morning, then went to work for 1pm as although it's my uni day I was in on OT to do some switch migrations as I didn't have lectures today. I got there to find they'd cancelled it 20mins before I arrived, so after an hour of discussing when we'll try again I left. Obviously I'll be claiming 2 hours OT & mileage as for an OT shift we get paid from the moment we leave home till we arrive back. I then went & picked up a lass I know who likes going out on the bike & went down to Matlock for a chippy tea. Then for some reason we ended up going back to nearly York to drop in at Squires before getting home an hour ago.

My headlights were too high, so I've adjusted them after getting home. What a faff faired bikes are, screen, a trim panel & the dash have to come off to get to the adjuster screws.

Still a 250mile day in 20c temps can't be complained about at this time of year. I've also noticed in 250-300 miles I'll have done 10k on this bike & I only got it at Easter.

Using it as designed and obviously fit for purpose. It must be a decent bike.

I can't fault it so far. I had those bits of hassle with it when I got it, mostly from neglect before I got it. Then it's broken down once due to a fuel pipe falling off as the clip wasn't done up, I'd swear I'd never touched that clip so maybe the same thing again.

Apart from that it's great & looks to be on for 7-8k from a rear tyre, which is pretty damn good for how it's used. Especially as half time it's either had luggage, pillion or both on. The average of 56mpg is nice as well.

Any experts on IOM TT rider deaths on here?

Which one? There's usually* ten* or so a year.

Here's why I'm asking.

My ex mother in law, and therefore granny to my son, told me that one of her nephews was racing on the IOM and was killed when a seagull hit his helmet at speed. I'd love to think that my boy is related to a TT racer.

I think I recall a story like that, must be hell of an impact on the fast bits. It's bad enough at road speeds.

I tried to work out what's wrong with the Sprint today. It's just being very 'Brit bike'.

The batt only has 7.4v in it, which is odd as it run fine on the way home & has never acted like the batt is dodgy. Swapping with the same sized batt off the 14 results in more life. But it still won't start (acts flat) and still no dipped lights. What I hadn't noticed before as I'd only tried things when it was running is flicking main beam or the indicators on causes the dash to reset. The dials sweep again when you turn the switch off, like it's just had power applied. So I'm suspecting an earth point is dodgy, maybe.

I've left the battery on charge for now & when my back isn't hurting as much I'll start taking bits off to get to the wiring.

Bloody thing! No rush though as the front tyre is illegal so I need to get them swapped with the spares I've got before I'd be able to use it anyway.

Just a short ride to Shotley Gate today. It was chucking it down this morning but luckily it cleared up.
