Two wheels good.

Talk about your cars etc here. Keep it sort of sensible and on topic please.

Or maybe you could try turning it on?

It was on reserve Ben, but had only needed to switch to reserve about 4 miles earlier & should do 40-50miles on reserve.

Have you fixed it yet?

Update time.

First I washed the filthy things as after several miles along a road that looked like a mud track Strumpet was disgusting & Hornet wasn't much better from general use.

Then I took the take off the Hornet to find why it was pretending to be out of fuel after 4 miles on reserve. Turns out it was out of fuel, but the fuel tap had got dirt in it so when set to on, it was also on reserve. Handy that, so switching to reserve means there's no fuel left. I'm glad I checked rather than just putting fuel in & ignoring it.

You can tell it's a Honda as all those twenty year old screws in the fuel tap came undone without hassle. The tap is a simple three position switch with a spring loaded ball sealing off the different holes as it's turned. A good flush with brake cleaner got the gunge out & means reserve is reserve again.

Then I drove to the petrol station, got a gallon of cheap shit petrol it doesn't like to put in it. My local station doesn't do E5 and I couldn't be bothered to drive further with all the shitsmus shopping fuckwits on the road. The Hornet will run on it & ride to a petrol station for proper fuel when used next.

Bloody hell. That’s a lovely looking bike - aged well. Top marks for riding it in December.
I was more of a flouncy fair weather biker myself… but you probably guessed that (what with me being a southerner and all that).

Hoolis is a southerner, he's just been sent to Boot Camp in Yorkshire to try and toughen him up, which is failing miserably at the moment.

Thanks.

I got it as a shabby winter bike & then made the mistake of cleaning it properly. It looks too good to abuse in the salt now, but I don't want to ruin the Triumph either so needs must.
