Depends on the bit. A sump will be an arse to find as breakers sell complete engines and no one will do pattern parts.

Re: Two wheels good.
Dropped the oil in the C90. The drip wasn't from the sump plug as I thought but the bolt that holds the cam chain tensioner spring and push rod.
I undid the bolt and both dropped out into the old oil (typical). I cleaned them up and put them back in. Re filled it with oil and now it won't start. Kicking it over it feels like it's in gear.
What have I done wrong?

I can only think I've put the pushrod in upside down but can't understand why this would make a difference.
I don't think I did though.

Re: Two wheels good.
Scratch all that. It's just started. I think it needed to have the oil pumped around it to release the clutch after a few kicks. It does seem to have a tappy noise now that it didn't before though.
Edit.
Just had a run to Tynemouth and it's all nice, smooth and quiet again. I think the tensioner just needed to be filled with oil?
It was my first bike oil change and I was a bit panicky.
And no drips. Thread tape fixes everything.
Found a decent padlock and rope. Where am I meant to put this when I'm riding?

Re: Two wheels good.
The cutting out has been getting worse. It's a bastard to restrart now when hot. It wouldn't start at all at tesco but eventually went when I bumped it. Cut out at the traffic lights at home and wouldn't restart. It rewarded me for breaking down by burning my calf on the exhaust again. It's blistered already and stinging like a bastard.
I stripped the fairing off and removed the air filter and plug. The air filter is minging and looks ancient. I sand papered the plug and put it back in. It fired first gentle kick and another few times after that. Problem solved I reckon. I've ordered an ngk iridium plug, air filter and a high performance ht lead and coil. All for £27.
The old plug was a nice healthy sand colour which is good news. It looks to have a new carb too which is a bonus.

It's easy just pull the filter screen and clean it with petrol, paulplom wrote: ↑Fri Jul 22, 2022 5:33 pm Bad crack that like.
The oil filter on the c90 looks like a right ball ache to clean. I'll have to order gaskets by the look of it too.
The bike seems a lot quicker since I put some oil in too. The gear change is much easier as well. I don't have to press or stamp hard. It just clicks with slight pressure.
you will need which side gasket to do the job.
Check if it also had a centrifugal filter like the CB/ XL 125 range as nobody ever cleans them out and it's not uncommon to find them completely full.
