Not really a motorcycle or even a moped for that matter. Bought another velosolex, collecting it tomorrow after a hospital appointment. Something else to fiddle with over winter.

Re: Two wheels good.
Deauvilles are OK, think only the 700 has ABS. Rode 30,000 kms in 2 years on my 650, liked the built in luggage. Could be hustled along at a decent pace, but fuel economy wasn't good (50 mpg). Never got to ride it much in rain though, but it seemed OK in keeping me dry.
I have a Himalayan, great bike on the gravel roads, OK for touring on at 60-70 mph (did 5,000 kms around Spain, France and Portugal on one trip). Built quality is good, nothing has broken, except for the electronic compass, which is common. Oil changes and valve adjustment is all you need to do, which takes me 30 minutes every 5,000 kms. 90 mpg is easy to attain. Going to place an order for the new 452 model, as the extra power will come in handy, no doubt at the cost of higher fuel consumption.
I also have an NC750X which is a good all rounder. Not brilliant at anyone thing, but not bad at anything. In 12,000 miles I have averaged 86mpg, which is unbelievable, but true. I just wish that Honda had built a Deauville with this engine though.

We just took the cost of the occasional smashed indicator or lever as part and parcel of the job.

I'd expect the school to cover the damage too, I'm sure the place I learned did. They did have a two crashes and ya back on a 125 policy for DAS students though.

- I scored very low on the autie test. I’m cheerful, happy, confident, like meeting new people, chatty and largely sociable. What the fuck am I doing on this forum?

Maybe the instructors at that school are a bit shit so they get more damage than most? I’d expect the school to suck it up really.

Re: Two wheels good.
I don't know how many students they teach at any one session, but if you have 4, and no one does any damage to a bike, then that's £120 in their pocket or towards their running costs.
