What did you do today?
Re: What did you do today?
I'm too tight/stupid for winter tyres.
I do try to drive more carefully in winter though.
But I'm old too so once the heater warms up I forget that it is still cold outside

I've got 4 x 185 14Cs on the back with a couple of ton onboard to give extra traction...
Seriously it was very good last time we had snow, obviously I couldn't stop or steer but it didn't get stuck.

Re: What did you do today?
Oh yeah, went shopping, which I hate, but the dogs have gotta eat so... On the way back I was followed by a Police Volvo (who'd have thought, not seen a cop car in years!) and had that 'oh shit!' moment while my brain ran through the legalities of the car, then relief. Anyway, the bugger was right behind me and I was watching the speedo like a hawk when a thought entered my head, use the limiter!
So I did. Never used it before, wasn't sure how to set it (dead easy) but once set it was so relaxing hoofing the car from a standstill and the car sticking to 30mph without any help/hindrance from me! It's cool...

Re: What did you do today?
Are you aware of the cowardice instilled in a body by buying blindly an old Bentley? Well, I am a coward! I keep thinking about one over in Ivybridge but, strangely, it being cheapish is putting me off. Plus, it's a dull colour and I'm not sure about the interior, looks really dull and uninspiring. Other sad fact is I like the SuLK! Also, they seem to have become enormously expensive! Last year 5 - 6 grand would buy something decent, now they are 10 thousand and I'm not sure I want to spend that much on a rusty old Jaguar!
I 'nearly' went to have a butchers at a 3 litre XF on a '10' plate for just over £5200 but again, why bother? It's only a change I fancy and mainly just because I'm bored. No reason to change the Merc, quite like it, fast enough for anyone (!) and a convertible but it's silver and I want a colour.
There is the other small matter that I will no longer travel miles to look at cars: so used to getting to the other end of the world and finding a shed that was described as 'mint' so now, about 30 - 40 miles away is far enough. Lazy? Yes indeed but better for my blood pressure.
I probably will change it soon, but for once, I'll get something I really like not something that just happens to be around that I quite fancy. Anyway, just booked the Merc into Central for new brakes all round, service and MOT so going to be skint for a while.

I took my 166 for a scenic* drive in the fog on Dartmoor

The fronts are michelins from a qashqai and have been great. Not sure about the legalities insurance wise though.
