Well here's some proper landrover stuff for today's doings. I get under mine about every year and have a grub round to see what needs to be done- with no MOT test needed it's surprising how things deteriorate without you noticing and this time I was rewarded with some easy jobs that if left will become harder ones. Most of the track rod end rubbers want replacing, they don't last long. This one was marginal so I gave it a tweak and it split.

I was about to drop the oil and noticed the filter is in a queer place. Then it came back to me, it's because I put it there, in the middle of the diy engine bracket.
The Landrover gurus advise that the 200 is easier to fit in a series as you don't have to weld new mounts to your chassis. Well I got the 300 in without any welding so stick that up yer bums.

I removed the rusty wheels and worn tyres and took them to be sandblasted. The proper wheel place wanted 220+ vat to do it so I've gone elsewhere to the skip refurbishers, hope they'll be charging me happy.
.
As for Freelander, I don't know what's going on, but I took the rims in it and water has stopped coming out of the exhaust and the oil filler cap. There's a bit more mayo, but I'm just going to watch the levels and keep using it until something bad happens.

I'm waiting until warmer weather before I do any more jobs on my Discovery.

In typical LR fashion it isn't broken enough to stop working, it just needs attention.

But today I bodged the front bumper back on my ace giffer neighbour's Kia Magentis, again. The silly old sod ripped it off while reversing the car out of his garage, and he tried to blame one of the local cats for "knocking things over" in the garage, causing him to have to reverse out on a different line to usual... absolute bobbins, of course - he'd already managed to scrape every panel of the car's nearside on some part or other of that garage :-D

Back to the bodge... he'd already ripped the plastic mounting bracket off the end of the bumper during one of his previous escapades, so it got re-attached with a self-tapper into the plastic wheel arch cover. Job jobbed, giffer chuffed.

Land Rover used to do a kit to fit 300Tdi into Defenders that started life with a 200Tdi and needed the engine changed under warranty.
Very similar to your system!

At last non-french so a chance of being good. I've never been in one to judge, sounded quick on FB though.

Regarding the above, it's a C30 D5. 180bhp/350nm torque.
Fun fact, the TN reg is a Scottish one, the DVLA used TN07 instead of SN07, for reasons I hope are obvious.
Found on Auto Trader, rang the dealer, got the train there with dad.
It was in Tyseley/Small Heath (Brum), on the train from Manchester to New Street the charming young blonde Polish ticket collecting lady said to me 'why do you want to go to Tyseley?' 'A car dealer' I shrugged back. It was a bit of a ghost town, but there was a Capri and some Metrocabs knocking about so not all bad.

Dealer was fine, dad kept him at bay while we checked it over. It's on 99k, full service history, it was a Volvo main dealer tradein against a newer C30. They just didn't want to sell it, probably on age grounds for approved used. It hadn't even been valeted and was super clean inside and out. A deal was made and I now have a decidedly un-shit car. It's every bit as good as the 850 was, and with more features. Only niggle is it needs a wheel bearing, as it was vibrating more and more on the M6 until it got a rest to cool down, then it eased off again. It's had the nsf done so I bet the osf is fucked.
Dad seemed to be grateful for the day out.
Here's to a keeper though.
