But with added complication and expense no doubt.

I think that the technology takes precedence over the progress, ok that was Audi but it's the same group.

Wasn't the same group when this came out or developed tbf.

Wish they did the added complication and expense of putting a terminal in the early cars!

I was sorely tempted to swap it out, but after seeing it decided not to. Weather is atrocious and under the dim light of the chicken shed, it looks in such decent condition. The rust spots on the body where paint have chipped away haven't got any worse and apart from dust, it's pretty much how I left it.

It will just get ruined if it left outside with all this rain and constant freezing+thawing. Both the inside getting soaked and the bodywork being damaged. Wouldn't be so bad if I had a carport or an empty garage to put it away in when the weather turns nasty again.

The car isn't worth a whole lot of money really - basically a couple months salary for the average man. However its only 4 owners and generally unmessed with. It'd take a lot of looking and more money than I paid to find something similar again. Plus I like the car a lot still.

The one car in a good long while that I can't bring myself to sell and get something else to try.

Back on the Datty again today and much swearing resulted. I destroyed several old screwdrivers I had ground to a sharp edge getting the steering arms off the bottom of the struts. Hammering on the bolts that hold the knuckle on only started mashing them over so I had to pry the arms off.

You can see here that the bottom bolt holding the caliper on will not come out with the steering arm in place.
Still one of the lower ball joints was missing it's rubber gaiter and one of the track rods too so might as well pull the lot off. The nearside disc is scored to hell, off to a local engineers tomorrow to get both smoothed up.

Not done any work to front suspension on a rwd car like this yet, other than changing bearings and track rods; question, is this a typical set up for a rwd car with strut front suspension? I'd always imagined that the ball joints would be accessible from the top, rather than hidden by the steering arm casting.
