I have wanted one for some time and this is identical to one I looked at 35 years ago as a first car. It is probably a heap of shit but it was pretty cheap and should break for parts if it is too rotten

I successfully sorted out an electrical fault* on a modern* car!
Got a call from panicked mate, the electrics were playing up on his his 2003 Fiesta (well, it's modern to me). He'd pulled back the roof lining to investigate water ingress, and ever since he'd done that the interior light, fuel gauge and clock had stopped working and it wouldn't start. He needed it for work in the morning & was running around like a headless chicken.
So I called round & within 5 minutes had replaced a blown 7.5 amp fuse, one of the five or six fuses Ford decided were needed to protect the "Generic Electronic Module".
Job done

Thought I'd start this again. Git cloned this down, got it building and running on my phone. Next step is to update the libraries and then write unit tests.

A little Android app I wrote a couple of years ago that allows diagnostics of 2000-era Renaults using those cheapy ELM327 bluetooth OBD adapters you get from eBay/Amazon.

I've had the Freelander nearly a year and it's needed far too much attention in that time. It's covered over 6000 miles, mostly towing, so I thought instead of repairs some maintenance was due. The first hurdle is removal of the undertray. I've never had a car with one of these before, but what a stupid design- 10 different bolts to remove before it falls on your head.
I tightened the fanbelt at the same time -with such a tiny engine there's acres of room under the bonnet, but the adjuster needs to be accessed from below.
While this was going on my Mrs paid the exterior its first attention in 9 months and, something positive at last, it came up well.
It won't stay like this for long, due to Mr Futtocks insatiable demand for a certain root vegetable it will be plastered with mud as soon as I drive it out my gate. Also, I'm wondering if he does a low-tar pulp, it's awfully harsh on the throat.

You do know that the Freelander is just a prototype for the Nissan X Trail and the development team were the public?

Nissan is a very poor copy, I've heard it can do more than 40,000 miles on a head gasket and that you don't have to spunk up £500 on a new VCU after only a few more miles.
