I do like a Minx.

It's 40 years since I had a 1962 Rapier and allegedly drove it about with no tax, MOT, insurance or come to think of it, a license, being 2.5 years too young to take a driving test. Allegedly.

It's a shame some cunt plate raped it but it's still nice. When you think that most of those were scrapped 50 years ago, it's wonder any survived.

That’s the one. Bit of a strange bloke really, didn’t seem bothered if he sold it or not. Interesting place though, must have been at least 40 classics there of all different types and conditions. There were some really rough old sheds there, Morris Minors absolutely full of Wob and hand painted etc.

Original reg was 149 GLW according to a £2 vehicle data check I ran on it, robbed in 2001. At least it is a 1963 car so the A plate doesn’t look awful on it, and dad doesn’t mind it.
He’s had his first drive down the road in it, feels great and the only casualty was the speedo which has stuck at 20 mph. Even the engine seems in good tune, unusual for a classic as normally they’re miles out.
I think these Rootesmobiles are bloody nice looking cars and I’ve always admired them. Styled by the same bloke who styled the 60s Studebakers, or something like that anyway.
First job actually is to remove the bench seat and attempt to remount it further back. The adjustment works but even in the furthest back position it’s too cramped for dad (5’ 10”) and I’m a couple of inches taller than him so it’s even worse for me.

I do like an Audax.....Yes I am aware of the chancer in Lymington but I steer clear of such chaps as they generally wind me up - just hauling stuff in from various auctions and doing seemingly very little to justify the mark-up.

Yes I have been away rocking - up in Lowestoft at the Wildest Cats Weekend (got two or three such events lined up over the coming weeks).

Here's some pics of the stuff parked around the Pontins site....

This '63 Imperial Crown was a favourite of mine, I got a ride in it briefly which ticked a box I had left unticked for too long....

Couple of Connies (Mk2 Fords are always the most prolific classics around these events). Sadly the convertible broke down (on the Orwell bridge) en route and was trailered away later....

'59 Dodge Coronet (not a big fan of the wheels but lovely car - my favourite rendition of the Forward Look)

Appropriate age-related plate on this '56 Chevy - for fellow numberplate anoraks this worked because Bournemouth issued the age-related A suffix in 1982 a couple of years before the rules changed on putting newer plates on older cars.

I did feel a bit faint-hearted for taking the Focus instead of the usual Cowley this year but doing so saved me £75 in fuel and with-held a certain amount of fuel tax from the government to squander. I missed having it there, though.

Couple of nice spots on the way home around the Bury St.Edmunds area - a six-pot P5 Rover Coupe and TE21 stacked-headlight Alvis convertible.....
(No pics of those, sadly)

As I was trying to extricate Bella's ball from under the belly of the Jag, some random bloke wandered over and started talking to me (cheek of the fucker!) about how LOVELY the Jag is, what magnificent condition it's in, how much did it cost? He thought I'd had it since new and I was almost ashamed to admit that my ownership was mere months not 15 years.

Still, been a long time since someone commented favourably on one of my heaps :)

Of course I did, we'd still be there looking for the fucking thing if I'd failed!

Yesterday I agreed to sell the Oldsmobile after being contacted randomly on Facebook. Boy is coming over from Ireland for it.

Some Buick-badged MPV horror.

Oh, sorry, that was GM.
