Decided I couldn't live with the fault in the back door any longer so took it back to the painters. They were great, they spotted it straight away but no one can work out what it is or what caused it. Anyway, it's going back on Monday to be attended to. Sand and polish first then...

Valve chest in the autobox needed rebuilt, abs pump fucked, and handbrake needed adjustment. Had the valve chest rebuild kit, and a 2nd hand abs pump, but couldn't be arsed to fix it. Since the Mrs left, it wasn't getting used, as it really was only for family trips.

It was well overweight! He asked me for a route back to Wolverhampton avoiding the motorway, as he saw they were manning the weighbridge northbound on his was down.NorfolkNWeigh wrote:I know those Iveco’s are 7 tonnes , but that must be very close to overweight . A Voyager, a Galaxy and that second deck and associated hydraulics. Doesn’t even pass the “ Looks alright, I’m not likely to get checked” test.

Noticed a big old dent and scuff in the parcel shelf of the car. Fortuitous that I had removed the rear glass, else whatever made that would have broken the screen.

Re: What did you do today?
Having a play about on the Internet earlier today, I managed to get my 2008 Triumph Street Triple insured for €124, for (what is roughly) TPF&T cover, any rider over 25 with a licence for two years, and free European breakdown cover (including UK).
Last year the cost was €294.
Just got a quote with them for my car for €162 (€326 last year).
Don't know why such big differences, but I'm not complaining.
Just need to send both previous insurers a signed letter to say I do not want to renew with them, and include a copy of my passport with it. That took more time than getting the quotes.

I'll tell you why: They aren't price gouging bastards like they are here in Ireland.Jerzy Woking wrote: ↑Thu Jul 28, 2022 6:16 pm Don't know why such big differences, but I'm not complaining.

Re: What did you do today?
I was shocked at what mate told me he was paying in Ireland, plus the cost of road tax.
I presume that means lots of cars there are driven uninsured and untaxed?

Re: What did you do today?
The cost of insuring our cars has been going down since the companies had to offer existing customers the same deal as new ones. Our house insurance has also dropped from 320 to 260 this year.
