What did you do today?

Talk about your cars etc here. Keep it sort of sensible and on topic please.

Oh, fuck, it's upside down.

I also took some high-res pictures on my camera (Canon S120 so small but powerful), unfortunately I blacked out (a previous medication left me with memory loss issues) and I've lost it. I suspect it's hiding in the Civic but haven't found it yet, it certainly wasn't in the car park.

That's impossible. It's Japanese, so it is reliable and never breaks.

It overheated and the gearbox needs a rebuild, but it runs. New engine being collected on Thurs in any case.

I’ve been mainly watching Twizy videos and listing after one.

Helped Cleon Sierra to put his R4 engine back together.
We got it running in the end.

Took the Acclaim for a run in the country, because Drive It Day, and because I almost never drive for recreational purposes these days. A few people doing 35mph on nice NSL roads and millions of cyclists reminded me why...

I didn’t do this today but I did it another day which was today at the time so it still counts

Finally got round to fitting the actual towbar to my modern. The instructions suggested this would take 45 minutes but 4.5 hours was more like it. Never the less it was fairly straight forwards other than far more bolts than I’m sure is necessary holding the rear bumper on.

Fairly standard procedure, bunker off and the tow bar replaces the crash bar. The electrics I bought the genuine ford module and harness and they work perfectly, so it was just a case of dropping the loom through the floor and clipping it into the socket. Only available in 13 pin variety so I have to use an adapter but it’s no big deal

Required some open surgery from the air saw to cut the bumper and undertray but it is not visible unless you lie on the floor and look underneath, which I’m happy about

Neck is detachable and the electrics fold up underneath out of sight. Really happy with it tbh

I drove this back to the unit today, it's been sat in someones garden round the corner from me for 6 months and most of the interior was in the boot, the seats weren't bolted in and the wooden steering wheel was broken and barely hanging on, it made for an interesting drive...
I spent most of the day putting it back together, now all it needs is carpet, headlining and some random bits of trim. It starts, drives and stops reasonably well and seems to be reasonably solid so I'm going to book it in for a test this week.
