Yesterday I went to my parents and investigated why their central locking on their Astra H wasn't working. I dug out my Tech 2 after a long protracted search.
My dad found that the car popped the locking fuse, which he replaced but nothing was still working. I plugged in my Tech 2 to find that the CAN adapter box (CANdi) had packed up and wasn't being recognised. Bloody annoying that.
Anyway I tried power cycling the car. Tried the central locking again and it made a clunk but nothing else. Hmm.
Checked the fuse and it had blown again.
Now I know these age Astra's are prone to breaking their rear door loom. One side had been replaced before but not the other. So went to check.
Well that will do it.
Chopped it off for now and taped off the wires. I'll get a repair section and solder it up when I'm next down. At least the electric boot release now works again, even if the central locking is now only working on three doors.
All Vauxhalls are shit.
What did you do today?

Golf MK4? That's usually the micro switches or dry solder joints in the door lock.
The Fabia has needs it module changing but haven't got around to it as still mostly works. Just doesn't realise the door is open and will auto lock after 30s if no other doors are opened. Bit risky if keys are left in when it does it.

It can't fall out, there's a bracket on the other side which half of the broken part is attached to and the pads are bolted into the caliper.Drum wrote: ↑Sun Jan 23, 2022 10:09 pmI'm surprised the pad hasn't fallen out of that caliper.RetroShite wrote: ↑Sun Jan 23, 2022 7:13 pm One of the front calipers on the 505 has been sticking so I had a look at trying to free it off and discovered it was slightly broken.

Re: What did you do today?
Finally sorted out a running issue on the car, not severe or frequent but erratic and annoying. Every now and again the old heap 'flutters' under acceleration..
Took it to the usual garage I use a while back and they could find no fault, no codes and it drove fine for them,.
Took it to a local 'Specialist' with the same result. That was annoying.
Finally realised it's my right leg/ankle.foot twitching on the throttle pedal. I can't feel it but I did see it yesterday going up a hill with this bloody flutter/stutter I could see my foot moving.
Seems my right leg is going the way of the left...

At least you're cheaper to fix than the car.

I made a vehicle purchase today, well it has 4 wheels at least. Also decided I need to sell the Citroen zx estate as I'm seriously broke. Statutory sick pay is a killer.
