What did you do today?

Talk about your cars etc here. Keep it sort of sensible and on topic please.

I dropped the sump on an Audi A4 today to replace the oil pick up pipe. Quite a fun job.

I rebuilt the carb on a chinese 125 yesterday, it worked for nearly a mile! There must be more dirt in the holes within the cases that didn't come out.

This is after they paid the supplying dealer to sort it's running issues & I found the idle jet totally blocked when I opened it up. Surprisingly I found screwdriver marks so they had taken it apart. I guess they didn't clean out the passageways properly either.

If today doesn't fix it I'll suggest a new carb, they are £30 delivered. it only needs to be fixed to sell.

Test run was funny, I had to sit pillion to ride it as it's so small. It's like riding a slow BMX.

Do you have a compressor you can use to blast it out with? This buying a new carb thing is an anathema to me, if it ran originally then it's just dirt and can be cleaned out unless it's really really worn.

No compressor etc. I've stripped it again & set it according to a manual for the carb I've found online, it's not running at all now even though I know it was running on the same settings yesterday. It looks totally clean inside, but there must be crap somewhere I can't get it out.

New carb ordered as I found them new for £11.88 delivered. That's less than double the price of a set of gaskets & jets so seems worth it. I'll fit it next time I'm down.

Normally I'd keep fighting it, but it's not making sense at all. It'll run on one setting & then refuse to ever run like that again. It's bloody annoying & I'm fed up with the stupid thing.

Ok i may have watched a little too much curse of oak Island, but we also have a garden that despite having a decent slope on it just doesn't drain so 3 French drains running across and down the slope may help speed it away.
That's 50m of land drain pipe gone in so far!

Shouldn't be, it's about 2 years old & only done 2,800miles. No evidence of problems there either.

It always runs perfectly on choke when it runs, but refuses to run without it. That suggests lean, but richen the mxiture & it doesn't run at all. Except when it does & then doesn't with no changes etc etc.

Zontas Tiger, I think it's 2 years old with 2,800miles on. My mum thinks it's worth about £800 once it's running, I've not looked at prices to say if that's right or not. I know it still looks new & rides pretty well apart from not running if that makes sense?
