Re: What did you do today?
Just to clear up. A chap in a galaxy side swiped me. I'd happily have taken a few quid for repairs without going through insurance. I didn't say that to the chap though as he was adamant we had to go via insurance. My insurance company have said it's going to be his fault, just formalities to sort. They have said it's going to be a write off due to age. Cat N as non structural just uneconomical repair. I've said from the off that assessor has to come to me which they have and I've categorically said I won't give car up without a fight. It's been a good car and no trouble with it which is odd for me. The plan is to get cash in lieu of repairs or if it's a write off then I'll buy it back. The assessor in person and engineer on phone have both said it's a very nice example and due to what spec it is that it would be hard to find another in a decent trim with full history.

It's been nearly Ted that the guy who hit me has got out his car and said I'm very sorry but I didn't see you. There is plenty of photos taken showing layout, approach and departure of island etc and bits of plastic from where he twatted me still on the island. He had no need to pull over. There were two exit lanes which eventually went to merge in turn.Hooli wrote: ↑Thu Apr 18, 2019 9:50 pmThe normal procedure is you claim on yours & they reclaim it of t'other after arguing the blame. I bet they settle 50/50 though as it's easier for them without any witness statements.AlabamaShrimp wrote: ↑Thu Apr 18, 2019 8:29 pm Bub didn't you get run into? Re: What did you do today?
An insurance company can't write off a car they do not insure.
As the other drive has admitted fault and your company has accepted that then the claim is again his insurance. They assess and pay you that's it. The car is going no where and can't be categorised as anything, as again, it's not 'their' car to do it with.

These are some words.

Re: What did you do today?
Well my insurance company will likely deem it as uneconomical to repair however you word it. It will highly likely be a cat N. all I know is it was his fault,he wanted to go through insurance. My insurance company have assessed it, submitted engineers report to other company and will see what happens next.

Ah, bastard. The fella with the engine I wanted wants more than the car's worth for it. I'll have to find something else.

I've no idea what this was originally fitted to, but it's small (about 5") so probably a 50's Villiers powered lightweight. I bashed out the worst of the dents, cleaned it up, replaced the rusted out clips to keep the reflector in place and the first part is done. To be continued...

Nice old Miller lamp there. I have a small collection of their cycle lamps and dynamos.
So what did you say in response?

Re: What did you do today?
Purchased this for £40 quid. 2 spare wheels and lighting board
With the trike
To fetch this
That someone has kindly given me. Immaculate condition and only used twice Re: What did you do today?
I went a bit "Detailing World" on the Volvo today. Only a bit mind, no Meguiar's, Poor Boys, King of Shaves or other wanky brands were used.
The seats got a clean with Autoglym leather cleaner, which also seems to be shit hot at cleaning plastic, then treated with Autoglym balm. It's made the leather look and feel nice and soft and it smells nicer too.
The overall impression of the interior wasn't too bad when I got the car but it was quite grubby close-up and it smelt a bit of dog.

Now. The brand new CD changer I ordered arrived last week so that's been fitted too.
