I did an oil change on the A8 today.

Thank fuck I have discovered Mannol oil as it takes about 8.5 litres and would otherwise have been very expensive!

The last oil change was done 2 owners ago in August using an extractor through the dipstick. I'm not convinced this worked properly though as the lance on my Pela was clearly not reaching the sump and was blocked by some kind of baffle. The same thing happens with the Saab.

The sump plug is a fucking huge big thing with my biggest Allen bit fitment, something like 20mm? Anyway, no chance of that rounding so off it came and the oil lashed out through the large opening and drained in about 20 seconds.

The oil filter is right on top of the engine in the vee and is a 32mm socket.

So basically the easiest oil change ever.

I'll need to get a cheap laptop and download the VCDS I was given although I was completely confused on how to do it the last time I tried. The service indicator needs this to be reset.

Considering you supposedly have to take the bumper off to top the washer bottle up, it’s a nice surprise how easy an oil change is.

Spent a few hours looking around a few used car dealers at cars that took my fancy. Didn't find one.

Many are obviously imports, as their number plates don't match up with the year of manafacture. No age related plates here, you get a current number issued, so easy to spot imports. As is rust on the sills and wheel arches.

When I asked "¿De dónde fue importado?" (where was it imported from?) the salesman said they didn't know (liars), or just shuffled off.

Would think lots of those with rust evident come from Northern France, Netherlands, Belgium or Germany, where salt is chucked on the road in winter. Plus it seems from the way police have closed a few dealers that clocking is rife.

Not at all tempted by any import, unless its like my 2008 Street Triple. Thats on an 2017 plate which I purchased from a mate who bought it new in the UK, had it transported over here, sorted all tye paperwork
then stopped riding as he met his partner just after the reg plate came through.

Half way through replacing a front wheel bearing on the Rav.
Should be easy because it's a bolt on job but the fucker is stuck in the hub.

It started pishing down so I called it a day. Will attack it with more force tomorrow.

Visited the transport museum in Dundee today. Some nice displays but only takes about 30 minutes to see it all.
Highlight for me was a Lincoln Continental that someone must have loaned them. Sorry, no pics

Seems to be a local Yank club rotating some of their vehicles in and out of the Museum. They have listed this as a '61 but that's a 1962 all day long, I would imagine it was built in 1961 as a 62 model. Been airbagged too by the look. Beautiful cars, though.
