Re: What did you do today?
I've just bought half a dozen old Lucas alternators. Maybe I will have a spare part for yours?
Re: What did you do today?
This is the old school type with a separate voltage regulator, thanks anyway. Sounds like a good buy that.
There are a couple of the same Lucas type on eBay, they LOOK kinda nasty to me, when I see a relay or regulator in a nice pressed steel box that comes apart it inspires confidence, I shall see if I can get a Jap one of the right age from a similarly equipped vehicle.

Re: What did you do today?
Today began very productively......
After a cracking weekend away I got home on Monday afternoon to discover some alarming shelf-tiltage had occurred in what we refer to as the "Children's Room". It is just a small back bedroom and no children are allowed in it unless they display a genuine and wondrous interest. It is where we keep our childhood toys, books, Mrs Rocker's dolls and some of my Dinky Toys.
The offending shelf had yawned away from it's alcove above the single bed and spilled Ladybird books all over the Britain's toy farm where some unfortunate leg injuries were sustained by a donkey and a couple of sheep....
Unwilling to face the disaster yesterday or indeed on Monday I got up with Mrs Rocker at 7.30am (she is child-herding for one of the kids today) and started clearing the aftermath. Another bookshelf was suspect as well so I got on with the dismantling etc. and at 11am had both shelves securely re-affixed to the wall with necessary reinforcements. The job didn't actually take that long but allow an hour or so for looking for rawlplugs, correct screws and the chuck key for my ancient drill. Usual performance.
I would have it all done by now except I stopped for lunch nearly an hour ago and still haven't finished eating owing to starting to read Champion the Wonder Horse, Z Cars annuals and an Eagle Book of Trains. There will now be a house-wide search for a fourth Z Cars annual that I know I have but is not with the books I took off the shelves. I can see tea being somewhat delayed now too.

Re: What did you do today?
My saab 9-5 of doom actually passed it's mot today with only a failure of a hid which I knew about. No idea how or why but it was £188 including a full premium service.
Some savage advisories though.
This was I thought, only the 2nd car I'd scrapped in thirty years.
The other was a mk2 escort 1.6 ghia in about 1994. The engine blew but I still got £150 for it as it still had an mot.

What the fuck are the first two about?
It's not going to fall off and you can still read it.
Non advisories if you ask me.

Following a bit of rain this afternoon I set off for the local car meet this evening...stopped to fill up and the bloody heavens opened so mission aborted
My newly fitted driver aids......(a wiper and heater with a fan!) worked a treat and the door seals keep rain out. If it wasn't for lockdown would never have got done.

Bollocks, it's shredded the fanbelt, luckily just next to Sarn services, even luckier it's a good job I had got the temperature gauge to work or I probably wouldn't have known. I heard the belt start squealing, then the noise stopped, bu I saw the gauge start climbing and pulled of the junction into the services. Now waiting for RAC, could be three hours or more.

At least you have got her off safe and it looks reasonable weather so I suppose could be a lot worse. Still bollocks though....

Re: What did you do today?
At least it sounds like you didn't roast it. Something seized or just an old belt?
