What did you do today?

Talk about your cars etc here. Keep it sort of sensible and on topic please.

It is why I have an aversion to spending mid to top money on a "nice" example of a classic.

The most I've spent is 3K at any one time and I expect 10 years at least out of that expenditure. Much as there are many, many cars I have lusted after and still yearn for I also have an in-built aversion to massive investment. I just don't value them to that extent....

I'll sell you this one cheap.

Is the steering wheel on the right or wrong side depending on what side of the Atlantic you're from?

Well, being built in Wisconsin the steering is on the left.

I am pretty sure you could convert it to RHD without too much hassle other than the brakes. I'm not sure the Renault answer to that- did they just put a big bar across to the master cylinder on the left? Clutch isn't a problem, cable-op.
Dash is fairly stock, though the rest of the interior is specific to the GTA.

I struggle to comprehend how much classic cars in particular have risen in even just half a decade. My suspicion is a lot of it is potentially Greater Fool Theory that is funded by low interest rates leaving many middle aged people and older not seeing a point in leaving money in the bank.

So any car I buy, I don't usually intend to sell but always have an eye on value in case I have/want to. Hence I have to see where I can potentially add value to justify selling for more/same as I've put in. Otherwise I'd just be looking for a Greater Fool that may not be around when it's time to sell.

In a way I'm hoping that the squeeze on incomes will take a lot of the froth out of the classic car market, as will the ability to go on foreign holidays a lot more easily.

If I had a fair few cars I could see my missus comparing owning them to heating the house or going to the Med., even though she tends to be fairly laid back and leaves the money side of things to me.

Increase the amount of money in the system and that money is worth less. So they are probably* still the same value, even if the price ticket is massively increased. Plus a bit of speculation, plus a bit of various other shenanigans.
