A fine array of horsepower but I expected the Catalina to look bigger than that!

Re: What did you do today?
Too hot for the beach today....
Well, actually it isn't but I am not going down there with all the other twats. So, bit of fettling - gentle stuff.
Found these in the shed left over from earlier this year. May as well use them up before I order some more. I find this stuff a lot better to apply than Waxoyl and the heat can only make it better.
So music ready....
Fucked old drill and pound shop filament bombs.....
Think I will start with this door as it is the only one that has been repaired....See all that black shit in there? The previous owner did that. Probably in 1970-something. Saved the car though, as he did it all in the inner sills and rear voids aft of the back arches. Some of it has peeled off due to local welding so I shall feather it back to sound edges and Dynax it all. Going to add another drain hole in the door bottom, too, before metallurgy does it for me.
I can do some other small improvements too - like turning the door pulls round so that they wear on a different fold of leathercloth. They will get cleaned up and treated too. The Woolies stuff works on leathercloth as well as hide.....
I might even fit my better door cards after all this but I will make up some membranes first. Unfortunately all my window rubbers and runners are pretty fucked and don't doo much to keep water out which is why I restrict wet weather useage of the Cowley to the minimum. Job for retirement. And a cooler day.....

Re: What did you do today?
3 weeks left! I was working all this weekend so now have 2 lieu days before finishing off on days.
Wasn't supposed to be early retirement - just a change of job but the other stuff has fallen through so I am just going to cruise for a bit....

It's a bit unfair parking it next to the Jeep, which makes any car look small.mercrocker wrote: ↑Tue Aug 11, 2020 9:50 am A fine array of horsepower but I expected the Catalina to look bigger than that!
The jeep is tall, the Challenger is long.
The Pontiac is slim compared to them both and it's not hugely tall because it's been lowered.
You figure, I'm 5'6" and have to stand on tiptoes to reach over the wing of the Pontiac in order to check the oil.
Edit: It's also a matter of perspective. I'll try take another picture today to show that. However you mention it's got warm there- the solid cream metal polish I use on the Pontiac currently has the consistency of double cream. Yeah, it's warm here too.
