cros wrote: Mon Dec 06, 2021 2:08 pm Is it really true that you can't tow an electric car? Do the AA now carry generators to charge them up?

They do, and they also have towing dollies that allow them to be towed by lifting the wheels off the ground (rather than using a flatbed)

https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/uk.motor ... owing/amp/

I’m not sure why people think that they’ll suddenly run out of charge in stupid places - do people really run out of petrol/diesel just around a blind bend?
Yes they do. I was a passenger one night and the lad driving ran out. He froze, I said "get us over that side of the road NOW" so he popped it in neutral and we rolled backwards down the bank and tucked it in a gateway, making the cars coming down the hill wait till we were clear.
It was my gaffers son, a typical one, a right cunt, even he came up to me a few days later and admitted if I hadn't been there there would have been an accident. Its a national speed limit stretch even now, one blind bend followed by another, the metrot conked out after the second.

In case you can’t be bothered to watch it, of course it works.

The duracell-special can’t tell it isn’t just rolling down hill.

We are in the process of re-importing a vehicle from Holland that we sold to the guy over there about 15 years ago.

Question is - once re-imported can we get the original number plate reinstated in this country? It's an old Land-Rover, suspected was ex-factory (it certainly wore a Land Rover Ltd. factory reg plate and an -HP suffix) and is generally quite a historically significant and rare motor (a Stage 1 V8 HCPU, reportedly only 27 made)

Please see attached pics of it in its heyday and a pic taken today on its way home!!!

The only people I've known who've done that have got the original reg back without asking for it particularly. My guess is the record for it still exists & the DVLA remove the exported marker so everything else stays the same.

I'd assume the only issue would be if the number had been re-used, which looks unlikely as it's not one that'd be sold as a private plate to me.

You could always post the question on the beige for the guru to answer in-between fettling his brakes and fondling his lightbulbs.

Lovely Landy. Shame it's lost those deep dish rims.

My neighbour bought her 16 plate car in the UK then moved to Ireland in a huff over Brexit but came back over here back in January. The DVLA took ages but it went back on it's original number when they finally sorted it.

Excellent news! The DVLA take ages to do everything.

Oh, I'm sure there are a couple of sets of One-Ton rims kicking around here somewhere ;) have you done anything with your fire tenders yet?

No. One day, maybe...
