The mk2 is a bastard to change bulbs on more so than the mk1. I've owned 1. I actually fitted footwell lights to my mk2 only because bulb holders were already there!mercrocker wrote: ↑Thu Jul 07, 2022 2:20 pm I've changed about five bulbs in three years on my Mk2 Focus and never fail to be unimpressed by the crapness of the fittings and seatings. I've got a box of spares in the car but I am never, ever, ever changing that fuckity fuck glovebox one again. I just chucked a freebie LED torch in there.....

Re: Stupid questions about motorised conveyances
I never use towbar socket covers, everyytime I have they seem to harbour more water than they keep out and corrode things. My spring loaded cap has snapped though so socket is now exposed but it blew first time round before the cover snapped off.AMCrebel wrote: ↑Thu Jul 07, 2022 6:48 pm I had a Volvo 360 that used to blow the indicator fuse every time it rained. I figured out it was the tow bar electrical socket filling up with water and shorting out when I used the indicators - so I snipped the wire and never had any further bother (had nothing to tow in those days).
Obviously wouldn't have been an issue if it had been an Audi or a BMW

My vectra had Cambus and a self check of lights. I fitted led bulbs in that and every so often the car would strobe its sidelights when parked up!

Re: Stupid questions about motorised conveyances
My thought was the lower resistance of the LEDs might allow a surge as the circuit is turned on that's enough to pop the fuse even thought the low when working is lower. Almost like a momentary short...
I could be talking shite, but putting normal bulbs back would see if the LEDs are the issue.

Re: Stupid questions about motorised conveyances
As you know though I tend to have my sidelights on all the time. I'd have thought a surge would happen more frequently and therefore blow a fuse more than 3 tines in about 6 months though.

Re: Stupid questions about motorised conveyances
But thinking of it more it's only happened since the leds have been in. Maybe coincidence but will swap them over and see what's occurring. Funny how it alternated sides though too

LED bulbs act differently. I fitted LED indicators to my CBR1000 and when one failed I didn't get the other one fast flashing to tell me something was wrong.
