What it like overhauling the brakes (that are stuck on) on a Defender (1990)? Is anything horrendously expensive?
What's stuck? All parts are available from expensive to cheapo pattern parts. Some say to always avoid Britpart, but I haven't had a problem with their braking parts.
I have no idea until I go over and take a butcher's. Knowing what they are like for mix 'n' match, I'd rather see what it's got fitted in the metal, rather than what I think it might have from the VIN. I'm assuming it's twin-pot front discs and drums rear? I'm also assuming that the nuts and bolts will be a mish-mash of metric and imperial.

I've remembered the registration now and it's supposed to be a 1988, 110, 2.5 dizzler. I drove it myself when I was weighing in stuff last July.

Front calipers on those are held on with multi sided bolts so you need a few odd sockets. I think they were 9/16th but you can't use 6 sided sockets it has to be one of those old muti sided sockets. Hopefully that makes sense. I am pretty sure they are drums on the back or at least my old 1988 110 used to be.

I got the confimation letter from the finance company to say the transhit's been paid off.
The dvla debited my account for the tax today. I forgot to fill the log book in. How can I stop them taking anymore.

Dunno, I expect the logbook will get sorted out when the garage register they've bought it as trade?

If you do get threatened with a fine just tell them you did send the logbook in & it's not your fault they lost it. That always seems to work.

I've looked it up - bi-hex. Yeah, I've probably got a ½" & ⁹/₁₆" AF in those 12 pointers. Maybe even a 13mm too.

I'm not aware of any pentagon bolt heads but then I only have had series LRs and Discoverys. Might be 12 point 13mm on the calliper.
