Fucked! Despite supposedly being tested before us spending an extra £30 for next day deliveryEddie Honda wrote: ↑Sun Aug 14, 2022 11:51 amWhat happened to the used one???Scruffy Bodger wrote: ↑Sun Aug 14, 2022 10:58 amCan you just stick any old inline pump in the engine bay to get yourself going again? I've done that in the past to prove it was a faulty pump before removing it and the engine ran fine.DodgeRover wrote: ↑Sat Aug 13, 2022 9:26 pm No problem, currently stuck away from home until rock auto deliver me a petrol pump so won't be able to look for a few days

Could have done but we were stuck on a site miles from anywhere with only minimal tools. At my parents now so I've got decent workshop access.Scruffy Bodger wrote: ↑Sun Aug 14, 2022 10:58 amCan you just stick any old inline pump in the engine bay to get yourself going again? Re: Stupid questions about motorised conveyances
I've fallen off the wagon and been buying things from auctions again.
Amongst much assorted, miscellaneous tools and other items are a couple of gauges. Look like trip counters or something. There's also a temperature gauge of some kind (on the left). Any ideas?
Also won* this handheld rev counter which I believe is for measuring the rpm of a shaft. Haven't seen them in the metal yet.

*LOUD CHEER FROM THE WOB CROWD*
You don't half buy some s̶h̶i̶t̶e̶ quality used spares!
Far left: Wilmot-Breeden Calormeter temperature gauge thingy that is mounted directly in place of radiator cap on a vintage (or older)
Middle and right are two Smiths speedometers (Austin 7) same sort of era, c.1930s

Indeed it is. Ultimately obsolete tat, would be more interesting with a box and accessories.

Re: Stupid questions about motorised conveyances
Thanks Eddie. They'll be very useful* to me then.
Got the speedos and thermometer for £6. The rev counter was £4. Love old shit like this.
Looking at those ebay listings, that's what I probably should do. Bound to be loads of Austin 7s going about without their speedo..

You might as well buy an Austin 7 to put them in now.

Re: Stupid questions about motorised conveyances
I like the way the A7 speedo is capable of 80mph, followed by 0. This presumably allows tuned examples to smash their big ends out without overly damaging the delicate instrument in the dash.

A tradition Austin followed as I remember a tweaked Minivan my dad had that'd accelerate to 'empty'.mercrocker wrote: ↑Tue Aug 16, 2022 8:34 am I like the way the A7 speedo is capable of 80mph, followed by 0.
